Andover moves out of 7AA and back into a metro section but Hermantown elects to stay in Class A when they would have an easier road to AA state having to get past Grand Rapids and/or Rock Ridge. I’d have to think Hibbing is a much tougher opponent than Rapids or RR yet Hermantown stays down.

Just cannot figure out why they so interested in staying single A when they would be the likely favorite in 7AA every year going forward. I say this because I want to see Hermantown at AA state competing (and beating) the metro teams. They must have some dumb reason (probably has to do with money) why they stay in single A but as a fan of HS hockey and wanting to see northern teams beat the Edina’s, Tonka’s, etc… it’s disappointing

Well, you probably have Moorhead now.

Hermantown will be fine, but they will be nowhere near as dominant as they were in years past. Last year I believe was the start of a trend heading back to “good but not dominant”. From what I’ve seen the pipeline at RR and even East looks more promising. Sure, Hermantown will always draw the transfer here and there, but they’ve lost a few key kids from the youth program as well. Was the writing on the wall or is there something else going on?

Sadly, outside of Hibbing and maybe (fingers crossed) Proctor, there’s not a lot of strength in single A in the 218 and I’m purposely leaving Warroad out of the conversation. My point is, their chances of winning in A vs AA are much higher IMO whereas there was a strong chance in years past of them being able to perhaps take the AA title outright.

Well Cloquet is pretty decent and should contend for 7A.
