That would be a nice Christmas present for EP.

I’ve always thought he was coming back by 12/31 so I wouldn’t be surprised. What are the rules for moving a varsity player down to JV? It’s no coincidence they have 16 rostered skaters and 2 goalies on JV and 18 skaters and two goalies on varsity so they’d have to move one down to JV, but there’s room.

They played Cretin pretty tough so getting him back would definitely make them better. Not sure it puts them past the likes of Edina, Hill or STA. The Moorhead game tomorrow will be an interesting one..

Moe is scheduled to play in a USHL All-American Game on 1/16. I think the odds of him rejoining EP are slim to none, but I'll gladly eat crow being wrong here.

12/31....What does 12/31 have to do with it?

Straight from the MSHSL eligibility bylaws:

“LAST DATE TO JOIN A TEAM: To be eligible for section and state competition, a student must be a member of that school’s team not later than the fourth Monday from the official start of that sport season”

That would have been Dec 9th. He’s not coming back.

Thank you for finding the rule Bardown. Furthermore, why would you take a kid back 8 weeks into a season? I don't care who he is or how good he is. I know kids are probably talking to him but if the program wasn't good enough for him to come back 8 weeks ago, why bother? Disruptive to a team and some kid who has worked hard will lose his spot. Not fair or healthy for a team IMO.

Wasn’t aware it wasn’t a set month/day; always thought it was 12/31 going back to what I thought was the same date Blake squeezed in years ago.

As to why you wouldn’t take a kid in 8 weeks into the season? Because he’s Mason Moe, that’s why. EP’s got 3 sophomores rostered with one getting ice time so it wouldn’t be an issue at all in the locker room or in the stands. Twig seems to have placed a heavy emphasis on homegrown kids, but we’ll see how that holds as the cupboard is nowhere near full and talent lacking at the Bantam and PW levels…

During the 2019-20 season, Blake joined EP late January (1/30/20) and played in the final 7 regular season games.

Blake came back the year before from Shattuck at Christmas time and wasn’t eligible until Christmas time the next year when he played the final 7 games.

Good recollection. I’m an EP hockey bobo and those details were fuzzy. Pre-Covid days seems like a long time ago.
