Why post about something so ridiculous, you know how many damn teams you could do this for?????? Look at Holy Angels last year if everyone would have stayed
Hagemo
Frazee
Johnson
Hummel (stayed)
Barriball (stayed)
Carmen

or even better yet which could argueably be one of the greatest teams in High School history, the 2002 Hill-Murray Pioneers.
Jim Jensen (left for Waterloo, USHL)
Tom Dickhudt (Ann Arbor)
Jim McKenzie (Ann Arbor)
Dan Carlson (Roseville)
Dan McCauley (Totino-Grace)

All those players leave and Hill still places runner up in the AA state tournament to AHA. Lots of talent leaves and i know you must be kinda mad about Anoka losing all that talent, but it happens to every organization and team

Does sound like a lot of teams have this happening, but I find it an interesting post. I'm sure it's not an easy choice for some of these kids - big decision to make for high schooler (somewhat similar to a college kid deciding to turn pro before finishing their degree).

Must also be tough on Coaches - never sure what you will have returning each year. Those that can regroup and produce perinnial powers are indeed top noch.

I find it hard to compare Holy Angels to Andover/Anoka.
Holy Angels Hockey is all other associations players from around the area. ie Edina, Eden Prarie, Jefferson, etc. Andover/Anoka was one youth association which split up. Last time I checked AHA did not have a youth association.
You are right though, this is happening to all associations. There seems to be more competition for players to forgo and average Varsity team and play juniors or if they are good enough play for the USNDT. Very interesting post

Anyone notice how notice how AHA and HM are both private schools? AHA always has the better kids, so they leave to go to better programs like juniors or ann arbor, same with HM but on a smaller scale. This doesnt nearly happen as much with public schools. One question off topic, Hagemo? Is that Nate Hagemo who is a sophomore in college. How was he in the gophers last season if we could have been a senior at AHA last year. Doesnt add up could someone please explain this to me.
The curse lives on.....

Hagemo accelerated his schooling so he could attend college a year early.

If we are on this topic, Minnetonka's team last year (if everyone had stayed) would be way better than Anoka's team this year.

The Anoka guys really aren't amazing players anyhow.
