At $175 per player, that is some good income.

Pokecheck - are you saying that one team has 20 players that were born in 1990. That you make them all either Bantam eligible or Sophomores in HS.

That just does not sound right - does it?

The only thing that makes sense to me is if that would be like a prospect team. They could have them sign, but that doesnt necisarilly mean that they have to play that year, just their rights go to that team if and when they play junior hockey in the NAHL.

The reason that they were there is because Andy Murray's son plays on that team. That team is the 90 Minnesota Blades team. None of them are there becasue they want to make the team it is just experience for them.

I've found out that the 90s team is owner Andy Muarry's son's team (mostly Shattuck players also Jordan Schroeder from St Thomas Acadamy). They beat the Blue team on Friday and tied the Blue team on Sunday.

I spoke to one of the guys that was running the tryouts, and asked him about the '90 team... his response was that they were "Andy's team" and that the kids on the other teams were getting really frustrated with their stickwork. I guess everybody was told to keep it clean, and for the most part, everybody but the 90 team was. I wouldn't suppose that anybody that really wants to make the team would risk a retaliation against one of "Andy's kids."

I also spoke with a parent that had a son trying out, and he told me the cost was $100.

Is this their only tryout camp with so many players, or are they looking at narrowing it down for a final camp?

The second camp in July will consist of 6 teams playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the roster will be reduced to 2 final "all-star" teams.

This is the first time I have seen this thread so this is a bit late, but let me getthis right. Guys trying out for a Junior "A" team were having a tuff time because a team of 15 year olds were playing to rough. Wow, this team sounds like it has a good future.

too rough...

Read carefully. It wasn't that the 15 year olds being "too rough" that was the problem. the problem is that the kids were told to keep it clean, but the 15-yo team, including the team owner's son, weren't doing that, and weren't getting called, but anyone who got rough with the 15yo team was getting penalized.

bighair10 -

I apologize if your post contained sarcasm - I just couldn't tell. However, just in case you were serious about the team looking strong, a 5-2 win over a Junior "B" team does not sound impressive to me.

I'm hoping for the best for the Southern MN team and I like Pat Cullen - but I think you see my point.
