Fascinating analysis looking at the last few years. '23 and '24 classes not quite as bad as it looks from that second graph, because of the rule change, but yikes. The NCAA decided to make a bunch of fifth year seniors feel slightly better about the impact of COVID, and nuked the college prospects for 100 something kids in the '23 and '24 classes. Nice work NCAA!

Can confirm - even at the D3 level. Coaches and programs are using the '23 and '24 classes to re-calibrate their roster sizes. Many bringing in just 4 skaters and goalies are getting crushed (being told to take a year in prep school or a gap year if they want to come). A couple of the MIAC's will have more than 30 skaters on the ice for tryouts next month.....crazy.
And if you look at the recruiting classes East of Ohio, the Canucks are coming and eating up spots....making it even harder for the ever-growing number of college ready American skaters to find places to play. Is what it is, and the silver lining is that the level of play in D3 is only going to continue to improve. Hoping that trickles down to club programs and more schools transition to D3.
