Boy, if Edina beats Tonka, the Frankenstein’s monster that is Tonka may come unstitched.

These should all be good too:
Gentry / maple grove
Holy family / bsm
Orono / NWC

Tonka has faced very mediocre back ends so far (D+G) other than Andover (who blanked them). Are they a high powered offense? That is a legit open question.

If my other two picks are as good as NWC/Orono, should be a fun week. That was a great game, although another datapoint that schools beating up on weak schedules is not great preparation for playing reasonably good teams.

Edina’s game against BSM was a good win for them, although a little lucky. The game-winner was as fluky as it gets, and BSM controlled long stretches. It really seems like Edina just doesn’t have a forward contingent capable of generating meaningful 5v5 chances against good teams. Unfortunately for BSM, they are kind of in the same boat. At one point the Edina boys were chanting their high-class “goalie’s nervous” chant, and I kept thinking to myself “is she, though?”

And how about Fritz at CDH holding Stillwater to one goal for the tie? Impressive performance, and a statement that CDH is for real.

Great update. I think Cretin, MG, Hill Murray, will be tough teams to play in the playoffs.

I’m behind any team with great goaltending, and all three of those have it.

Fritz has carried CDH for three seasons, she doesn't get enough recognition for how good she is. Last night she passed out on the ice from the heat in the building (it was hot - ice took forever to set up) and the Stillwater attack, her backup had to take over with 20 seconds left in OT. Ponies controlled the 3rd period and OT, they have so much young talent and are really well coached.

CDH D corp is really solid too. 5 solid players that can manage the D zone pretty well. They deserve some of the credit too....

Couple interesting ones tonight:

BSM/HF tonight should be a good one (outside of the main event). Both teams have played very hard schedules so far (BSM the #1 hardest schedule in the state, according to myhockeyrankings.com, and by almost 2 goals, HF with the third hardest), but both have been a little offensively challenged (BSM particularly). Should be a good battle, but probably low scoring. My prediction - I'd go 2-1 HF - just a bit more offense and better goaltending.

Tonka/Edina may come down to who dives better. Both teams with a bit of a pattern there, and both relatively dependent on the PP to score (particularly Edina). Grudge match, so will likely be feisty and therefore with some legit penalties. I'd go 3-2 Tonka, with 2 for each on the PP. One 5v5 goal for Tonka will be the difference.

That is, assuming they play. Stay safe out there!
