Not seeing a thread for Section 3A yet, so I will make my annual post here.

It looks like the following schools have been invited to Marshall's Thanksgiving weekend tournament this season:
Cotter Schools (Winona)
Pine City
Waconia

Pine City has been an invite every year so far, but that is okay since they have been pretty even competition for Marshall. Missing this season for the first time is Fargo Davies, who basically won every game every year. Waconia and Cotter Schools are new invites.

Games will be Friday and Saturday, Nov 26-27. Cotter Schools is an unknown so might have to research that one a bit.

Okay, so I learned something about Winona Cotter high school. They are fielding a boys varsity squad this season for the first time. They were formed two years ago and played a junior varsity schedule last season. The school has an enrollment of 460 students in Grades 5-12 so they will be one of the smaller A schools.

Well, good luck to them. The Winona Cotter Ramblers. Maybe Marshall can win their own tournament this year now that Fargo Davies is not participating. Oh wait, they would still need to beat Pine City or Waconia also.

It all starts in net! Wish them well.

WOW 6'6 thats a big boy. He will be facing a ton of shots this winter! However, if he is really good the boarding school model of Cotter has begun bringing in high profile kids from overseas... Curious to see how that all plays out.

Cotter is OUT due to COVID... Marshall will move on to the Championship tomorrow

Cotter's Friday game with Marshall was cancelled, but they showed up to play Waconia on Saturday. I don't know what happened. I don't really care.

New Ulm has a challenging slate of games starting tomorrow: Hutch, Mound, then Fergus and DL at the Fergus tournament. I’m curious to see how they fare against better competition.

AGREED Stang. I was low on New Ulm after they needed every minute to pull out a home openign win over Worthington... 2 1/2 weeks later the Trojans look liek they have their best team maybe ever whcih is awesome and New Ulm is steam rolling through thre soft part of the schedule.

3A is interesting
East looks like the lead dog but as Goldy pointed out on a different thread the lost to century shows on any given night they are very beatable.

New Ulm and Luverne are rolling for now.

Windom and Worthinton could be battling for a 4 vs 5 game wow....

Mankato West is really down but they will be a nightmare low seed matchup in the section of non traditional teams.

This will be fun to see who can get to the X and continue to grow their program in the most non-traditional region of MN hockey. In may respects Section 3A is what Class A was created for not the Giant Schools like Mahtomedi & Alex & Northfield The Blue Blood Northern Powers like Warroad and EGF and well lets not even get started on Hermantown . Its fun to see Class A still allowing programs in to grow and make appearances like in 3A.
