Why did STMA fall off the top 3 list? Thought they were up and coming...
Will Moorhead be back to a top 10 team this year?

Moorhead will be a top 10 team for years to come. I do think Roseau has a chance to give them a test again this year, but time will tell. We need a coach hired first!

Might be giving Elk River too much credit. Leading scorer from last year bailed to chase a banner with another program. No immediate help coming from last years Bantam AA team. Offensive production will be a huge question mark this year for the Elks.

Typical response from someone who has no clue why this particular player left Elk River. Do you know this family?

I guess in this day and age when a talented kid leaves a program he's been with since his first year of mites and goes to a program next door that has a much better chance of winning a state title, it's easy to jump to conclusions.

This late in the summer will the new coach be from the broader community, rather than the school district?

Yes. He wants to win things, just like every other highly talented, competitive athlete.

This is just speculation, but I would think a new coach would probably come from outside the school district, not a teacher within the district. I do know that if a coach is not found, the district has the contractual right to assign the coaching job to an existing employee. That does not happen very often and is not an ideal situation to force someone to be the coach. Hopefully a few good applicants will still come forward and give the district some options. As they say, time will tell.

Well in this case I might question whether the player wants to win things, or Dad wants to win things. But I guess that's just more speculation and assumptions based on past history and local gossip, right?

St Cloud departures have left them weak and inexperienced.

Early season bragging rights go to Roseau in the Roseau/Moorhead battle. Elk River definitely looks to be legit and Bemidji is off to a great start. Should be a fun year in 8AA!

Not a lot to go on early, But after Roseau and Moorhead I would go
3. Elk River (3-0) 8-3 vs Buffalo, 5-2 vs St. Cloud, 6-0 vs STMA
4. Bemidji (1-0) 4-1 vs St. Cloud
5. Buffalo (1-1) 3-7 vs ER, 6-1 vs Brainerd
6. STMA (1-1) 7-4 vs Sartell, 0-6 vs ER
7. Sartell (0-1) 4-7 vs STMA,
8. St. Cloud (1-2) 1-4 vs Bemidji, 2-5 vs ER, 5-1 vs Brainerd
8. Brainerd (0-3) 1-6 vs Buffalo, 0-10 vs Roseau, 1-5 vs St. Cloud

Elk River was able to get everyone in 8AA on the schedule except Moorhead and Roseau which will make seeding interesting. Still playing East, Rapids and Cloquet so would hope those 2 can be worked in next year. The new rink is spectacular in ER.
Is 8AA a QRF section?
