Once you get all 16 teams for each class A and AA, pair up two sections.

The other format I have in mind is take eight teams, four number ones and four number twos and they play it out.
No ones vs ones Or twos vs twos and you can’t play against your section.
Do the same with the other eight teams and the eight winners go to state.
All games at a neutral site!

My thought is they are kids not professionals and it is a non-starter to greatly increase the number of games or length of the season.

After all, it’s just a game.

I think it’s great to have ideas. Good or bad, it keeps people on their toes. I wonder if anybody in charge ever even considers a change down the the road or even thinks about different possibilities.

For any form of double elimination tournament, the regular season max game count would need to be reduced due to need for recovery time needs for players.

Maybe a 2 game total goal series for teams that make section finals, like the old WCHA.
