...was interesting comment made questioning current ranking spot based on recent score of a game versus a weak opponent (running time score vs a non running time score)
IMHO I don't like to see the large margin of victory games, and the scoring stats would be skewed someone for the leaders of the winning team?
Nothing wrong with a 4-5 goal margin and running all 4 lines. Maybe even sitting line 1 in the 3rd.
Shows class and is good for the game- again, just my HO.

One comment here that Brainerd and Roseau do not play this week. They play the following Saturday.
Likely the biggest week for seeding the top half of 8AA. Roseau plays Moorehead Tuesday, STMA Friday and St Cloud on Saturday. Baring an upset (which is obviously plausible) the top 3 get decided.
To showcase the importance of the week here are a few scenarios that could play out. Roseau wins all three and it is likely Roseau-1, Moorhead-2, and STMA-3. Moorhead wins Tuesday they likely snatch the 1 and Roseau/STMA battle it out for the 2 on Friday. Here is where it gets interesting. Roseau beats Moorhead and then loses to STMA Friday. Would it go STMA-1, Roseau-2, Moorhead-3? The other wild card here is if Roseau drops the St Cloud game(they did take Moorehead to OT) with any of the above combinations of STMA/Moorhead results how does that factor into the seeding?
Going to be an interesting week.

In addition to the incredible parity this year, the other thing that sticks out are these close scores between "top 10" teams and relatively weak opponents, it does seem like there are a lot less running time scores this year compared to previous years, but that's just a hunch based on looking at scores as I haven't done any real analysis. As you suggested, some coaches are handling this differently by running all 4 lines and winning by a relatively small margin while others are putting up double-digit victories and padding the stats for various post-season award consideration. It's still mid-January, so many teams are still trying to figure things out, so I would also agree that giving players opportunity to play is probably the "correct" approach when these opportunities vs. weaker opponents present themselves.

I agree in essence with everything in your above post. But in this particular case, what Tony was referring to was outshooting a far inferior team (talent wise) 60-6 and the score being tied 1-1 with less than 3 minutes remaining in the 2nd period.

I attended the game. It ended 5-1 & Andover rolled 4 lines the entire game & the Anoka kids played their butts off, especially the goalie (Joey Moen). But the legitimate concern is a team with two ELITE defenseman...has a leading scorer at forward averaging not significantly more than one point per game (in fact its 28 in 17 games, 23 in 17 games & 16 in 13 games for Jones, Thoreson & Kron) respectively. Specifically, with 5 & 4 on their blue line, arguably the best tandem in the State & also together on their power play, scoring by forwards should be HIGHER, any way you look at it, so it says something about the overall quality of their top end forwards (the ones you really need to count on when the pressure reaches a boiling point in section playoffs) for a team ranked #2 in AA. It also speaks directly to their scheme offensively, lots of shots but not a lot of goals, which typically occurs when you control the puck on the perimeter, but aren’t getting to that triangle between the 2 face off dots and the net, cleanly & consistently, need to skillfully penetrate the dirty triangle to score goals

Believe me, the Randolphs of the world are aware of this trend. It’s not too late to change this trend, but it needs to be addressed IMO if a certain TC team is to finally break threw to AA State in Section 7.

That is my bad, I make my schedule spreadsheet in October so sometimes the Hub has things listed that disappear later in the season. I agree 8AA will make more sense after this week because of the breakdown that you listed. Roseau is in firm control of their destiny but what IF they win win this week and then lose to Brainerd?? Then I think it will go 1-STMA 2-Roseau 3-Moorhead

Correct there could be other games that throw a wrench into this. STMA has Rogers and Buffalo left. Moorhead has Bemidji and Brainerd left and Roseau has Bemidji and Brainerd left. The way this section is looking there probably will be an upset or two in there. This week's head to head results will carry a lot of weight in any event though.

I always love 59's takes. Really liked our chat down at the Casino a few weeks ago.
Andover is really starting to make me nervous.

I'm afraid I'm a lifelong fan of a certain baseball team that has been making Minnesotans miserable for the better part of two decades now. Jumped on the wagon as a young kid and never got off. Sometimes it's fun to be a bit evil.

100% agree and this has also been briefly discussed in other forum topics. Andover's D are tremendous, but it's tough to carry the mail on both ends of the ice game in and game out and especially in a playoff environment.

I really enjoyed the discussion regarding Warroad and the relationship that the town and school have with the Native community. I had a very cursory knowledge of the history of Native American players at Warroad, and it was very informative to hear how deep those connections run. Great job, Tony.

Karl probably is also a fan of the New England Patriots and Duke basketball (despite being a Georgetown alum), and enjoys kicking puppies in his free time

Can confirm all of that is true.

The section prediction segment with a month to go was interesting, here would be my current take at AA
1AA - Lakeville South
2AA - Eden Prairie
3AA - Rosemount
4AA - Hill-Murray
5AA - Blaine
6AA - Edina
7AA - Andover
8AA - Moorhead
