Wayzata 3, Duluth East 1, Final (ENG). Shots 33-24 Trojans.

About what you'd expect from these two teams, as it was tight game without much space to operate. East had a strong first period but tailed off somewhat from there; the turning point was probably a major penalty that the Trojans killed off comfortably, after which they took more control of things. Wayzata had their customary strong shot-blocking and created a bit more as the game went along. Definitely a rebuilding season for the Greyhounds, who will be able to hang in there against most teams but are going to need to find some sources of goals. No more Donovans or Lyles or Worths or Mageaus in the lineup to carry the load.

Hope Wayzata has a safe trip home, as we've reached whiteout conditions here in Duluth.

Pretty good weekend swing for the Rams

Went to OT with Maple Grove yesterday.

6-3 final sog : 48-25

Game went pretty much as expected. Tonka was your typical solid Metro team. Passed well and made few mistakes. Faster and stronger on the puck than Greenway. Don’t see them as a top ten team though. Saw some things that I liked about Greenway. Miller has picked up his game considerably from last year. More aggressive and offensive minded. First line can play with anyone but against good teams the second line struggles. The third line played but gave up two goals that put Tonka up 6-1. Greenway got two late goals on the power play to close the gap. Logan Wright played well in net. Greenway is a solid Class A team.

The Century/Mayo hockey game needs to be addressed by the school district.

Edina sitting at 1-3. When's the last time that happened? Must be late 90's...

Just guessing but probably all the penalties and misconducts especially by a couple of players.

The conduct of many, including those paid by the district, was abhorrent. I will leave it at that.

The Rochester Post Bulletins article on the game starts out with all the penalties, not the play. This isn’t the first time this has occurred in a Mayo/Century game.

46 minutes of penalty = feisty cross town shenanigans. Back at it February 1.
