Related to HS as HS aged players play in the NAHL.
How would you rank/grade the 4 MN NAHL teams:?
Austin
MN Magicians (Richfield)
MN Wilderness (Cloquet)
St Cloud Blizzard

Program, coaching, pros/cons, etc.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

The NAHL is exciting and fast paced. Austin is probably the best team, then toss up for the Magicians and the Wilderness. Don't know much about the other. I suggest going and watching because it is good. Stop by Richfield on a Saturday night game and I am on the Zamboni.

The Wilderness, as they won the 2015 NAHL championship (Robertson Cup), and also won the 2013 Dudley Hewitt Cup as central Canadian champions during their final SIJHL season.

Austin has the largest fan base. They pack in 1500 a night and/or more. Great blue collar town and home of Spam. Go see them alone to watch Dante Sheriff play. They have the best team in Minnesota more often than not, and this year won’t be any different. St Cloud is formerly Brookings. Typical cellar dweller that hopes to change that with new scenery, a new fan base and new culture. Magicians are coached by second year man AJ Bucchino. Great building. NHL draft picks on the last 3 squads and this year is full of some of the state’s solid 01s (Hale, Norman, Oberle, Laylin). They are in last place, but trying to find the right combo at goalie and consistent scoring. Wilderness have a solid fan base- sell good beer and have a nice northern feel. Lots of 218 players “stay home” and play there for their junior careers.

You can’t go wrong with any of the 4 imo.

Now that the 23 man rosters are out I count 14 MN's coming directly from HS on the USHL rosters and 29 on the NAHL rosters. Congrats to all the MN's moving on and continuing their hockey. Looks Like Eden Prairie leads with 4, followed by Duluth, Minnetonka, Chaska and Holy Family with 3. Seems like St. Cloud has picked up a number of MN kids with their recent move.
Sorry in advance if I left anyone off. This isn't meant to be a list of all MN's playing, just the ones coming from high school last year.

USHL
Cedar Rapids: Gotz (Hermantown) Jutting (Prior Lake)

Dubuque: Kaiser (Andover)
Fargo: Boynton (Champlain)
Madison: Lavelle (Chaska) Lyle (Duluth)
Omaha: Jensen (Eden Prairie)
Sioux Falls: Bushy (TRF) Pinoniemi (Holy Family)

NAHL

Austin: Anderson (Eastview)
Bismark: Hillman (Blaine)
Fairbanks: Benz (Chaska) Eisele (Stillwater) Plante (Marshall)
Kenai: Frago (Wayzata) Spinner (Holy Family)
Maryland: Kittleson (Burnsville)
Magicians: Laylin (STMA) Oberle (HIll Murray)
Minot: Charchenko (Holy Family) Crull (Mtka) Peterson (Hill Murray) Westlund (Alexandria)
New Mexico: Langsfel (Eden Prairie) Paridise X2 (Mahtomedi) Peterson (Litchfield) Rudrud (Eden Prairie)
Odessa: Morton (Edina)

GoalieDad, thanks for your hard work. A couple of adds to your list:

Bergsland Fargo (Wayzata)
Pitlick Omaha (Chaska)
Reiners Waterloo (Edina)

Not sure but maybe this thread should be moved to the Junior Forum. Not much activity there so I like it on this one though. GB

No Jeanette from Duluth East in the list. Anybody know where he’s skating this winter?

He played in three pre-season games for Waterloo--didn't play in the first two games this past weekend. I don't know if he was a healthy scratch. GB

Some of the kids listed are still HS aged, so it does have some relevance to the HS hockey landscape.

Pretty sure he was healthy scratched. USHL teams are not in the habit of cutting juniors in high school who made the start of season roster. He could also have some type of minor injury that kept him out of the lineup ☝️

I still see Howe listed on Jamestown's list

Although this time of year these posted protected lists change more frequently than I change underwear

Just a head up I think Nov 1 is easiest day for NAHL tender offers/signings so it may be interesting what offers are given based on EL discoverers, past camp performances or other.
GB?? Can you confirm or clarify??

Not sure where the right spot for this is? Anyways-

Charlie Schoen (Andover) is picked up by the Janesville Jets.
