Pretty good chance that STA and Lakeville North make the final, Tonka probably doesn't have to worry about it.

Orono traveling up to face EGF is a pretty spicy Class A match up right out of the gate. The defending champs lost quite a bit of scoring punch to graduation, but both squads should be in the mix of teams nipping at Hermantown’s heels.

Will Zachary Simon play for Orono or stay with North Iowa Bulls?

Lost players to graduation and transfer. I know of 3 for sure and have heard of possibly 4 or 5 total players from last year’s varsity and jv who transferred away. Incidentally Orono’s JV tied Minnetonka and was one of the top JV teams in the state. so while those transfers and graduation hurt, they seem to have enough depth to at least have a pretty quality single A team.

Yikes, that is a lot of transfer attrition from a state championship team. I see that Jorgensen, who would have been the top returning forward, ended up at Holy Family. (And HF poached Huber from Mahtomedi as a one-year rental.) Can’t we have nice things at the Class A level?!

A little surprised to see Davies back after the beatdowns they handed out last year. Their stud defenseman left for the NTDP, but they should still roll through that field.

Scrimmages in Brainerd this Friday. Don't have a full schedule but looks like Varsity and JV for Brainerd, Elk River and St. Cloud.

Yeah, this tourney has had Marshall, Pine City, and Fargo Davies in all of its three years of running. Only Breck was added last year, replacing Henry Sibley from the first year.

Fargo Davies 5-0 Pine City after only one period. Pretty sloppy ice hockey, especially from Pine City.

Games are shown live, simply go to youtube channel "Marshsports live". Marshall-Breck game will follow this evening, probably around 9 p.m.

According to the podcast STA is very depleted due to football team in state championship? Obviously McFadden is a big name out, but how many guys are we talking here? They made it sound like this wouldn’t even really be STA’s real team.

Thanks WM. Definitely good win for Tonka, but would have been fun to see both teams at full strength!

Marshall 2-1 Breck, after 2

Breck taking a lot of dumb penalties.

62. Yes, the football schedule thru a wrinkle into this one. McF and Herz would have been additional big bodies and physical players . Even so ,doubt if would have made much diff tonight with a 30 Sog diff. Tonka speed , passing advantage , finesse and depth prevailed in this game . ImHO Donahue was the number one star, to keep STA in the game under tremendous pressure
