Prior to 1975, the runners-up in Regions 7 and 8 had a second chance to make the tournament through Region 3. In 1992, another major realignment occurred coinciding with the shift to a two class tournament. I believe full ice checking was implemented at the begining of the 69-70 season. A good portion of players used an external mouth guard. that attached to their helmet straps, I guess concussions were not an issue. <p></p><i></i>
