Roseau and Moorhead clash yet again in the section final. They split wins during the regular season, but Moorhead hasn't lost since December 29th. Can the Rams pull off the upset, or do the Spuds return to State for the first time since 2013?

Sighting in Roseau: Somebody looking a lot like Ben Helgeson trying on a Ram jersey ? With so much history, The Rams have a unique MSHSL exception to the eligibility rules?

Are you sure they would want him back. They seem to be doing pretty well without him.

Just think if Helgeson wasn't logging tons of ice time in youth hockey and they could have further developed their current players. It is too bad when programs get used like this. Especially ones like Roseau that have limited players to develop in the first place.

Curious about the first reg season game which Rams won 3-2. How did that game unfold and were any Spuds out of lineup?

Roseau scored twice in the first 1:10 or so of that game and from what I heard did have the better of play in that one.

Moorhead would have been missing Jake Holtgrewe (C) and Parker Dronen (RW) from their second line and I believe may have also been missing Nolan Westra (RW) from their third line but not certain about him. Their lineup was thin for about the first 6-8 games of the season but has been stable since.

It was 1 week before that game that Brainerd also beat 'em 4-3 in O/T.

Yes that's right. I've always been amused by all of the discussion on the high school hockey podcast all season about "the spuds being such a mystery". It took their lineup a bit to come together, since it has, they've been very tough to beat.

After that Roseau loss, they only had 1 more loss in the next 18 (to Prior Lake 1-0).

Thanks for info on the first Spuds/Rams meetup

I was at that Spuds/PRior Lake game in St. Louis Park, close and hard fought all the way. Thats why I went, hoping for a good game, (As you saw last Saturday against EP, Lakers were never a team to be taken for granted.)

Then I saw Spuds come back from behind and smoke Mtka at home.

Spuds have got to be a heavy favorite, but they way Roseau has been playing and fact they split with Spuds in reg season, I guess you never know.....

The game in Moorhead was not decided until into the 3rd period. Moorhead lead 2-0 until there was about 13 minutes left and then things went south for the Rams. It will take a huge effort by the Rams, but not out of the realm of possibilities.

I have not seen either of these teams play this year, but watching their scores over the season I really hope its Moorhead as I think they have the best chance to compete at State. I would love to see Roseau back in St Paul but only if they can truly compete and not just be a small speed bump for some dynasty team to run over.
