With ER leaving and Wayzata coming in, how does everyone think that the section will look next year? Obviously #1 right now would be Wayzata, but who else has a chance to take the section? Osseo? Maple Grove? Blaine?

Does anyone know why Elk River got moved out of 4AA. Was it just randomly trying to even out sections or what??

They try to do it geographically, maybe they felt it was time to move Elk River into a northern section. Out of 4AA, Wayzata is the favorite, although Blaine could make some noise. Osseo is always pretty good. I can't see Maple Grove doing much after losing their goalie. It looks like Wayzata's section for the taking.

"maybe they felt it was time to move them into a northern section" they used to be in the northern section, infact they've only been in 4AA since 1999. Apparently they won't even have to play the section tournament next year, it seems you have Wayzata penciled in already. Must be a sigh of relief to all of those coaches and players in 4AA to finally have such an elite west metro program in their section to finally bring some prestige to a section that has only won 3 state championships in 6 years. I guess we'll have to wait until next year, but I would not be so quick to give the nod to the new comers.

I did not pencil Wayzata in as the winner. It would be stupid to do that, I just stated that at this point they look like the favorites. Blaine should be good, as well as Osseo, and who knows who else will step up as contenders. It is a section that has been dominated by Elk River, 4 out of the last 6 section titles, and now they are moving out. I realize that the other 2 years this section won state titles, but Anoka has struggled after the split with Andover.
