Is Hibbing destined to knock Hermantown out in 7A this year?

There is still lot of hockey to be played but Hibbing seems to look very strong this year. Unbeaten and 4th in the A rankings. If the Hawks do get the showdown with the Jackets in the section final it could a far different game then the Hawks 5-2 semi's win last year.Far better and tougher Hibbing team this year!! If Hibbing's defense can shut down the Hawks scoring it could really get scary!! Would not be shocked if Hibbing sent the Hawks packing home and for the first time in 7 years no state tournament send off rally and the students and fans in Hermantown having to watch the tournament on tv!! The regular season finale between these teams is going tell a lot!!

Doubt either team will show much in the final regular season game. Overlook Greenway and both teams will be watching from the stands at excel. Will be a fun race for the title. Greenway will give Hermantown a tighter game than that overrated, over hyped team 6 miles to the west.

If Greenway or Hibbing prevail I'm sure Plante will claim they are recruiting

It would be nice to see Hibbing knock them off the 7A Mountain top, but it would be more fun to watch them lose their 7th consecutive State Championship game.

Agreed, no one in 7A should take Greenway lightly.
What gives me hope that Hermantown might get upset is the fact that Hibbing, Greenway, and Denfeld all have excellent goalies. To beat the Hawks, your netminder is going to have to stop 43/45 shots, and then your offense must capitalize on the pp.
It can be done, but it's a tall order.

Agreed. The only way to beat Hermantown is to let it all hang out and go for it. They have a lot of depth that will always help them out in the 3rd period when the other teams with less depth are running out of gas. That advantage goes away when the games are televised and there are regular TV time outs that let the other team rest their top players to reduce that depth advantage. Of all of them I see Hibbing as the team with the best chance to knock them off but would not be surprised if the other 2 did it either.

Yes, ideally to Breck just for the press conference! Bruce would have to come up with new material since the STA days though. He doesn't have all, "Hometown Boys" anymore. Although I think he had Skrbich during one of those games so he must have forgotten that.

Do you know who got the GWG in the 2010 HT/Denfeld section final game? I was at that game in a packed Cloquet arena I think... Huttle? LeBlanc??

From Follow the Puck: Kevin Danielson with GWG 13:14 into 3rd period.
Drew Leblanc and Chad Huttel were gone after 2007 championship team although there was a Brian Leblanc on roster in 2010.

It would be great to see the best 2 Dmen in the state playing against each other in the finals!

I wish Hermantown was back in 5A so the best 2 Dmen in the state could tangle there. Hibbing can absolutely knock Hermantown off this year.

Hibbing better do it this year. Perunovich will most likely play Juniors next year. Heard that another key player is being encouraged to change schools.

Not sure. So I don't want to say anything until I know for sure and it's been confirmed.

Interesting. Cloquet is pretty loaded at that age group.

From Ryan Ullan's father: "Ryan is not and will not be playing for Cloquet. He is quite content playing hockey in his hometown of Hibbing with his friends!"
