2015-16 Holiday Tournaments - Pick the Winners Challenge!
Posted: Sun Dec 06, 2015 8:15 pm
We invite everyone to participate in this season’s “Pick the Winners Challenge”. The four selected tournaments again figure to be the top four this Holiday Season, involving nearly all the top-ranked AA teams and some of the best Class A teams. Because folks get very busy this time of year I’m putting this up earlier than normal to give all who participate plenty of time to mull things over. So, no excuses for not participating!
Our defending 2014-15 Holiday Tournament Prognosticator Champion is none other than panpan111, who finished with 42 points. The big question is, can he successfully defend?
The four 2015-16 Holiday Tournaments are:
1. The 2015 Eagles Mid-Winter Meltdown, hosted by Eden Prairie and played at the Eden Prairie Community Center, from December 28 – 30. All of the teams from a year ago return this year.
2. Walser Tournament, hosted by Edina and played at Braemar Arena, from December 28 – 30. Teams are the same as last year.
3. The 2015 Mid-Winter Border Battle, hosted by Blaine and played at Fogerty Arena, from December 28 – 30. Seven of eight teams return, with White Bear Lake replacing Mankato East.
4. The 21st Annual Kaposia Classic Invitational, hosted by South St. Paul and played at Wakota Arena from December 31 – January 2. Seven of eight teams return, with Elk River/Zimmerman replacing International Falls.
We'll follow the same tournament scoring system as we've done the past few years. To participate, follow these easy instructions:
>Copy the brackets of all four tournaments below and paste into your new post.
>For the Quarterfinal games only, enter your predicted scores into the blanks provided. Each predicted winner will be worth 1 point, and each correct score will add an extra bonus point.
>Type in your projected winner of each Semifinal game where shown. Each predicted semifinal winner will be worth 2 points. No need to enter scores for any of the semifinals – they do not figure into the point totals.
>Finally, type in your projected winner of the Championship game. A correct prediction of a tournament Championship game will be worth 3 points. No need to enter scores for any of the championship games – they do not figure into the point totals.
>Most total points for all four tournaments combined will determine our winner!
In the event of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be a correct prediction of the winner of the 3rd Place Game in the Kaposia Tournament.
If still tied, the second tiebreaker will be a correct prediction of the winner of the Consolation Championship in the Kaposia Tournament.
The deadline for posting your predictions is 11AM sharp on December 28th!
