Elite League Care and Feeding

I look at the Elite League site and I see many wonderful features: in game updates, scoring leaderboard, player statistics, feature articles, game summaries, and even videos. Very well done and always up to date!
I look at the Girls Elite League side and I see games from three weeks ago without scores, in fact, the vast majority of Girls Elite League games played so far, remain without recorded results at this point in time.
See the sample below:
http://www.hselitehockey.com/schedule/t ... son=165724
Besides lacking up to date game results, there is no scoring or stats leader board, no articles, game updates, etc., etc.!
Shouldn't patrons of this program, the players, parents (the paying customers), fans, and Girls Hockey Community as a whole, be able to expect and demand better from the "Elite League"?

Agree. It would help the girls to get attention for themselves as well. Very important and not handled well.

Some might argue that the level of attention already paid to these kids is a little much.
If you guys want to write nice things about your kids, go ahead. I know mine's fine without a bunch of stats printed on a fancy website.

As far as stats go, unless they are handled very carefully they should not be posted. I saw one girl had a goal in the first weekend, which was amazing...she was in Stoney Creek, Canada. That's one hell of a shot.
Also, assists are rarely correct and not taken seriously, which does not reward a girl that perhaps plays the game the "right" way.
There's something about the girls side..Heck last year up at National Camp one girl from Chicago had a "hat trick" and all the scouts were all "a buzz" to come watch her the next day. I was at the game she was 50 feet from the puck on two of the goals which were actually scored be Hastings Radke.

Recording correct stats would be nice ,but, not the main issue...
The lack of effort and possible disdain by those
responsible for the league is very telling....
Last time I looked ,
the money from the girl's families is the same as
the boy's money
.

I agree with NU somewhat...Common theme having people managing boys stuff better than girls.. But whose fault is it??.. I say put in your time and volunteer to make the system better .. Many more on boys side will do whatever whenever it takes to improve all aspects.. More want to be involved for love of game on boys side!
I'm sure Elite would appreciate a few here to step up and record and upload stats/scores perfect or not!
Anyone....anyone..... Bueller??
Btw what would a U10 father know about stats or a "fancy website"???

I thought the one (not the only) of primary purposes for this league was to give MN girls an opportunity to showcase their stuff in front of college scouts without having to travel across the country. The scouts seem to show up and I am taking a wild guess that they are not pressing for a better website experience.
Stats in this instance only serve the parents.

I've never been to a game in this league but I'm pretty familiar with the rosters. Most girls are 11th and 12th correct? What percentage would you say is already committed? Just curious. Thx

NTM, on another thread of this forum a listing of commited players has already been created. I believe you ask this question as to find a large percentage to be commited, this is simply not accurate.

Sorry coachk. I haven't compared the rosters to that list, a list which is in large part incomplete. I was ASKING because I was interested in the answer. Not a comment on who is who's not committed or the quality of play or players. You read way too deeply into the question.
Which you didn't answer.

At a very quick glance I counted 38 of 61 committed, some are not on other forum yet.

How many committed that are not playing?

Might be good for the organizers to communicate a little more, if they are not using the stats because they lack staffing or volunteers then tell people that, if they have heard from college coaches that they don’t want stats out there then let people know that. I would suspect it is a little of both but I have heard from coaches before that performance in the elite league carries a ton more weight than the high school season. I also know that there are many schools (including some great D3s such as the mini Ivy schools) from the east that seldom or ever make it here outside of the st cloud camp. That is why you absolutely need the committed players in the league, the talent level needs to be as high as possible.
Part of the goal of Elites was to add more games to what has been seen as a small number to those outside of MN HS Hockey. However, and I think more importantly the goal should be more around lining up players who want to play beyond HS with good opportunities.

I know a couple committed girls that have not shown up because they are injured. For example, Taylor Williamson is coming off of hip surgery and doing well. We'll let her take her time, she is reeeaaallly hard to handle!

How many are goalies?
There are a lot of kids I would consider as good if not better than some of the kids on these elite rosters, but they play for high schools that don't compete well. I'm sure if these same kids had 4 to 8 D1 players in front of them their stats would be as impressive. Hard to deny a kid a spot when they have good stats but it should be just as hard to deny a kid a spot when they see 10 or 15 quality scoring chances a game instead of 1 or 2. One of these goalies can't break the starting lineup at her high school but still manages to make national teams and elite league.
My kid is playing at a level where she belongs, I'm talking specifically about kids that are not my daughter, that deserve more recognition than they get.

I will wait patiently to see your list of elites that were overlooked and denied their right to compete at the highest level in the state due solely to being in the wrong and unpopular program. Remember that some are invited and decline for a number of reasons. Only interested in the large group you know that were not invited to elite!.....You can start with the goalies as I'm sure you would like!

Some very interesting and valid points made on this board!
I think I will sit back and soak it all in as I watch the cars drive by before I venture out on this fast moving highway of ideas. Don't want to get rolled into the ditch by some speeding grandparents;)

I'm only referring to goalies, as I stated and didn't try to hide, my kid is a goalie who I do not consider elite, as she is inconsistent and doesn't do the off ice things she needs to do to excel.
Quickly off the top of my head, excluding my kid who for the 3rd time I don't think belongs in the conversation, Remington, Carle, Weber, Bonicatto, Johnson...I'm sure there are more that I haven't seen play.
The point is there are zero goalies in there that come from OK or bad schools. BSM graduated a D1 goalie last year that posted a .872 save percentage in the state tournament, when she had to face teams that were as good or better. Imagine if you're "elite" goalie had to face teams that were as good or better for an entire season. Would her stats look as good? That's my only point. Plenty of quality goaltenders are not getting credit simply because they don't put up huge stats or have the right connections.
You can call that sour grapes or whatever you want, but I've seen a lot of these kids play and most of the "elite" goalies are interchangeable with the ones I mentioned and I would argue one of the kids I mentioned (not mine) is better than most if not all of them.

OK so now it is one kid that was clearly passed up and not "lots" like your earlier post. "Interchangeable" is always going to be there at the end of any top list and at the beginning of the next list. Get better so you are not considered "Interchangeable" would seem like a good strategy!?
You mentioned a goalie that you think was passed up that has not been preforming at an elite level the last several months and I know you are a cheerleader for that team so you lose credibility there.

As if I had credibility to begin with? I assure you my kid is not in that list. Obviously you know everything about every kid in the state and are a much better judge of talent than I am. I'll just defer to you from now on. Just do me one favor. Go back in time 4 years, put any one of those "elite"kids on St Peter's roster, make her play there for her entire career, then come back to this thread and tell me I'm wrong.
