Ground Hog Day

Here we go again.

Section 1 - A Lakeville team
Section 2 - Edina
Section 4 - Assuming HM
Section 7 - Duluth East

Here we go again.

And they wonder why attendance is dwindling.

Here we go again.

In 5 years, I'm predicting STA starts to dominate Section 3, and BSM Section 6. Section 5 will be either Blaine, or MG. Leaving us with Section 8 as the only section with a variety of potential winners.

Here we go again.

What's your point? What do you recommend? Tournament is great every year. Anyone who argues that is delusional

If you're going to be a whiner, don't forget about section 8; since 1990, either Moorhead or Roseau has represented section every year except 1996.

I moved out of state 12 years ago and this year is the third time I've been able to fly home for the tourney. I don't care who plays, I'm excited to be there in person; beats the heck out of watching out on my computer. I'm just hoping for some good games and an early loss for Edina.

I believe this is going to be one of the best tourneys in recent memory. With all the parity in AA this season, I think any of the 6 teams who have won their section thus far (LN, Edina, Eagan, EP, DE, Roseau) and the teams that are likely to win remaining 2 (HM, Blaine)-although I think Centennial is gonna give Blaine a great game....are all great representations of their sections and all have a legitimate shot at doing some serious damage at the X.

Congrats to all.

I have been going to the state tourney for the last 25 years. It's not the usual teams that are making the tourney less exciting. It's the lack of truly great players that create the excitement.

In my opinion, the last time that arena really sparked with excitement was when Aaron Ness from Roseau took off with the puck for an end-to-end rush. That was awhile ago.

The great talent is jumping to junior hockey, leaving the regular fans without someone to watch with anticipation of seeing great hockey.

Out of the teams that are in the Tournament so far and then including Hill and Blaine how many players have left these teams?
Correct me if im wrong but I dont think any one has left Eden Prairie, Roseau, East, North, Blaine, or Eagan at least none of there "top end" players I would say.
Edina losy Connor Hurley but if you have been going to the state tournament the last 25 years you would have gotten to see him play the last two years, and if he didn't "spark with excitement" for you then he probably wouldn't this year I guess
Hill Murray Lost Willie Brown but he was kicked off the team for breaking rules so I find that to be different since he made the choice to disobey the program's rules or something along those lines.
In the end the most you could say were missing from the previous year is two players.
I find this excuse to be a bit overused to tell you the truth and when you really look at it, it dosen't look as bad as some of you guys make it out to be.

Great rebuttal Green4. I agree 100%. The state tournament isn't about individuals, it's about team play. The teams, the environment, the excitement and the beers at McGoverns aren't watered down!!

I agree the lack of great players is caused by players leaving early as did Aaron Ness.
But the year Kyle Rau (who stayed through his senior year) and his Eden Prairie teammates beat Duluth East in 3 overtimes after DE beat Edina in overtime the night before was a pretty exiting tournament.

I don't buy this argument one bit on lack of truly great players either. There is PLENTY of individual talent. Have you actually watched any of these teams that are in tourney thus far play?! Edina has 2 D1 commits in malmquist and Nanne and of this group could have as many as 10! EP has Snuggerud and Spinner and likely 2-3 more. Roseau has Yon- incredible talent and Bjuson. East has Beaulieu and a few underclassman that will likely play d1, LN has all 3 Poehling brothers committed to St. Cloud and are a joy to watch and 4 other players who I am confident will play D1 someday (despite what my buddies bemused and bluelightspecial think ;) ), and if hill makes it they have great individual talent in Slattery, French and Joey Anderson.

Crazy to say there is lack of individual talent! What else do you want?! Did you watch 2012 with Grant Besse and Justin Kloos? 2 of the most gifted offensive players and prolific scorers this state has seen in the last. 15 years!

Thank you. So we have 2 or 3 depending on how you feel with willie brown. I still stand by my statement that the talent is still there.

FACT:
Willie was railroaded off Hill for a chewing tobacco allegation...Mr Otto, a teacher at Hill, said he saw Willie spitting a substance into a bottle that"appeared" to be tobacco...Mr Otto was following him and a friend in his car. Lechner chose to believe Mr Otto and dismiss Willie without any due process...
So Lechner chose to dimiss Willie and his senior year on an "Allegation" of tobacco...Way to crush a kids dream Lechner...

Eagan lost Conner Hurley first. Skipping right by SSM, Holy Angels lost him second. Then Edina. :P

Are you whiners done whining? All public tourney for the first time since 1990. Hopefully that will quiet you all up for a while... well, at least for 1 weekend, then you'll find something new to whine about.

Hard pill to swallow, watching the game winning goal float above everyone and into the net but Stillwater's defense kept getting in the way of the shots. Best of luck to them next weekend, maybe they can show White Bear Lake how to win on Thursday.

No problem--the guys on TV last night were talking about East's seventh straight trip to State. I thought "it's a little early to be crowning them 7AA champs for 2015 already!"

Good news. I woke up this morning and heard some different music playing on the radio.

Thank you PONIES.... We have a Cinderella to cheer for at state.
