With all of the hoopla directed at the Ms. Hockey award, I thought it would be good to give a shout out to the young ladies that won the Herb Brooks Award. This award exemplifies the values, characteristics, and traits that defined Herb Brooks. Quite an honor in the State of Hockey. A hearty congratulations to Reilly Fawcett of the Proctor/Hermantown Mirage and Bella Sutton of Mounds View. I've never had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Sutton, but I've had the opportunity to get to know Ms. Fawcett. Considering Reilly was left out of the selection for Ms. Hockey, I'd say she did one better and in my humble opinion it couldn't have gone to a better young lady. Congrats to both.

Bella Sutton's nearly single-handed, hard work was the catalyst for Mounds View trip to the state tourney. In addition (and most importantly) she is an academic leader at the school. She turned down several offers to D1 schools to attend Penn State for academic reasons.
Well deserved honor.

So she's not playing hockey at Penn State?

Penn State IS a D1 school for both mens and womens hockey (and all other sports!). So the only question is, does she intend to play hockey there?

Thanks for clarifying. I was not clear in my earlier message.
I should have stated that Penn State had the best academic opportunities for her in addition to playing hockey.
