South at 8-17 has no business being a 3rd seed in a section but the sad thing is that they will probably win this game. 2 of Farmington's 3 losses were against Eagan and Rosemount and South beat both this year. Should be a pretty good game but, let's face it, this a game for 2nd place.

Think it could easily go either way. The question I have is will Farmington have an answer to Swaney who has been on a tear lately.....
If I had to bet I would say South 4-3.

Farmington has won their last 17 games...
Powerhouse, no, but the makeup of this squad is a bunch of young men who had a lot of success at the Bantam level just a year or two ago...
Farmington wins a close game...
4-3 Farmington

Sats...
South has scored 2-2-3-1-1 (one win) and 5 in section win over a not very good Century team... Granted last 5 regualar season games were against good competition in South Suburban... but not exactly tearing it up lately...

Didn't say south was on a tear, but swaney has been putting up good numbers last 6 weeks.

Statement game for Farmington. The team has won 17 in a row..... and are playing a team with 8 wins tonight. One would expect a very easy win when comparing records.

Naturally, however South strength of schedule was one of the more difficult in the state this year. Farmington played in a much easier conference. Still think this one will be tight.

In the 1st period, Farmington repeatedly gave up puck in Dzone. South capitalized. Shots midway through 2nd period was 17-16 South, ended 47-26 as reported... That means Farmington outshot South 31-9 for rest of game!
South played two lines, with Swaney line out majority of game. Tired?
Farmington appeared to be very nervous early. Missed passes, lost pucks off stick, missed coverage in Dzone, but they put it together and made a great comeback!
Saw North on Saturday... Very good ream. Don't think Tigers can beat North, who are deep and very talented! But tonight, Tigers made a nice comeback and played well late... Fun section hockey game!

I agree with the above post. Just wanted to add most of South's goals came off of bad d-zone play, South's top line is too good to have bad coverage. Farmington tightens that up and that killed South's offense. South's goalie played really well, without him Farmington scores at least 8, there were some tremendous saves that kept South ahead or tied. We've had a number of section games where a Kangas or Lindgren has stolen a game over a much better team and it looked like that might be the case tonight.
Just a couple of weeks ago Farmington beat Owatonna 9-0, North beat Owatonna 7-1 2 days ago. The North/ Farmington game could be really good.

How did Farmingtons goalie look? South scored 4 goals in the first 15 or so shots? No help or nerves?

I thought he played well. At least 2 goals came off of really bad coverage in front of the net, players looking completely in the wrong direction with South players out front. One was a blast from the point he had no chance on. At times I thought he needed to freeze the puck more to get a whistle so Farmington could reset or get a change. He'll have to be on top of his game Thursday but probably more importantly his d-zone coverage will have to be better from the get go, no lapses like they had for a stretch tonight.

I'm not sure if he had an off game, or what, but Swaney did not look like a division one hockey player last night.

I think Farmington can put up a fight against North but North is just too deep. Comparing how badly each beat a bad team (Owatonna) is not a great comparison. If you look at the similar "good" competition you have Eagan and Rosemount.. North went 4-0 and Farmington went 0-2. North also destroyed South twice this year and Farmington had to come back from 4-1 down to win in 2OT. On paper, this looks like North's game to loose but that's why they play the game.
My guess.. 4-1 North with an EN

Not sure what to read into this statement. What does Swaney being a D1 prospect (committed to Duluth) have any to with him playing good or bad?
