A high flying offense against arguably the best defensive team in the state. The Trojans showed they have offense too, destroying Cooper 13-0 while the Red Knights squeaked past Hopkins 4-2 (EN). I'll take the Trojans 4-2.

Very evenly matched teams, BSM has the intangiable and that is Pauly. He is one of the top 5 coaches in Mn and has been in these situations numerous times and that is why BSM wins 5-3, last one an empty net.

Wayzata has not given up more than 3 goals in a game this season.

They've given up 3 goals 7 times. 3 of those 7 were vs. Edina.

I have a hard time seeing BSM scoring more than 3.

Wayzata 5-2 (Empty Netter)

Trojans 4-3. I think BSM keeps it close. Should be a good game.

Wayzata in a steamroll. 5 to 1. BSM gives up too many odd man rushes.

Me too. Great game by BSM. Looked a lot different than I have seen them before. BSM d-men were very quick to start the breakouts. Pauly rolled three lines and three d-pairs. In the previous games I have seen he depended very heavily on first line and first 4 d-men. BSM first line could not establish any o-zone pressure but second and third did.

Balance, balance, balance. Another year in which Wayzata doesn't have any O.

The 2 goals scored by Benilde were kids who played youth in Wayzata...

Nice win for the Red Knights...if they are going to go to Saint Paul this year, scrappy, gritty team D is what will get them there. Only 18 shots for Wayzata. I think the kiss of death for Wayzata were all of those CCM Youtube videos highlighting their march for a second state tourney appearance....note to coaches - never participate in those promotional things as inevitably there is a curse and those teams end up not making it. Good to see the BSM goalie rack up several nice games now and gain some confidence. Guess this means we won't see Minnscout on here promoting his Impact/Rogalski prodigy until next season. There is enough talent there to make it to St. Paul when the chess pieces are moved properly on the board.

Benilde did exactly what they needed to do, use their speed, get timely goals and get solid goaltending. Pauly always has his guys ready to go come playoff time. They develope their players over the course of the season and let them make mistakes and free wheel trying to make plays. This is why top end players should play at Benilde, they are not put in a defensive system that doesnt encourage individual developement. When the end of season comes they tighten things up a bit but have had the regular season to showcase their talents and are ready to make the plays when called upon.

Many people are saying that this section is down this year. I think this upset proves that wrong. Everyone thought Wayzata was coming out of the section, and BSM beat them in a game that wasn't to a hot goalie (though he did play well) or a few fluky goals, but simply because they outplayed Wayzata. Still the best section in the state IMO.

Section is not down. Also, Wayzata and BSM played a 1-goal game during the regular season so another 1-goal game Saturday afternoon shouldn't have been too much of a surprise to fans. In regards to the goalie situation at BSM, as i have posted before, the main issue this season has not been the goaltending. It has been the fact that the goalies have been asked to manage a half-dozen or more odd-man rushes almost every game. Not going to be successful doing that. The team did a very good job on Saturday limiting Wayzata's chances. Any one of the top-4 in 6AA had a legit shot at the crown going in. Won't be a surprise either way if EP or BSM wins Wednesday night.
