If Marshall can handle the first period or so I think they will be OK once Hermantown's kids get a little tired. I agree. If they can survive the initial onslaught with the Hawks..(they come out smothering and relentless and overwhelm opponents early, rocking them back on their heels).....Marshall will have a shot. Marshall is well aware of where Hermantown's weaknesses lie, but can they capitalize?

Cant say I agree with Marshall being a rough and tumble team. They are pretty undersized but fairly skilled. While Hermantown works very very hard, as they do every single year.

At that point Hermantown's trip back to state to try to become the Public School Champs for something like the 6th year in a row (or what ever the count is now) will be up to which Marshall team shows up to play, or doesn't show up.

I don't think "everyone" is talking about these two losses, or that they got "beat pretty ugly." What most have said (like karl, along with my opinion) is that their losses against the AA teams they've played, on paper, are much worse than others in Class A.
Seem to remember a few of the same comments. Not going to look back and find them, not a big deal. Just was wondering how they seemed to be considered bad losses.
Before the holiday break, we just had a 6-1 loss to Wayzata. Now we also have a 4-1 loss to Eagan.
-EGF beat Blaine 3-1. (Also shut out Totino) No complaints
-Breck tied Holy Family and beat Holy Angels. No complaints
-Warroad lost 5-3 to Rapids and 4-3 to Bemidji. No complaints
-DM beat Rapids 6-4 and lost to Benilde in OT in a game they were winning.
5-2 loss to Appolo, 2-1 loss to Superior. Failed to recognize them.
If you throw in their come from behind win over Denfeld, what has Hermantown done this season to make themselves look any better than any of the above teams until last night? They have not loss to a inferior team. See Marshall statement. So the only way to look better is to beat or play well against a AA team, despite losing to A teams that are ranked far below you.

What do you mean by normal? They don't have a D1 prospect on the ice this year. Their best palyer left for Juniors. They don't have the high scoring "Diaper Line" that played 3 years on varsity. They lost their top 4 defensemen. They returned their starting goalies from last year. You are right in that now their schedule does have some better teams on it and they do have the opportunity to rise in the rankings, but they could stay out of the top 3 if those above them take care of business as well. You put some in italics? For what reason. Your #2 team has New Prague coming up. Hermantown has White Bear, Brainerd, Bemidji , Grand Rapids, Cloquet, TG, SCC and also New Prague. Lets look up West's schedule.

They were the preseason #1 in most polls and have dropped from that spot in all polls, yet no fans have been on here claiming they should be ranked ahead of everyone else, unlike the past couple years. You aren't even suggesting they should be top 2.
Inever have suggested they belong at 2 So what? What does that have to do with anything?. And the preseason rankings were done by people that obviously didn't have the time or were too lazy to do any homework. LPH did a great job of breaking everyteam down and still put Hermantown at #1? All they had to do was read their own work and realize that they had it wrong.

They are clearly a top 5 team right now and the next few weeks will tell us where they should be, but right around 5 or 6 seems about right for now. It is definitely unfortunate that they don't play any of the other teams LPH has in the top 6 for the rest of the season.

Hermantowns expectations are to win a State Championship, not beat as many AA teams as they can. Although it would be nice.
Eagans team is different this year, but they beat Hermantown last year as well.
Or you can say the Eagan team that beat Edina 3 weeks earlier
Marshall may want the whole 2nd period back, but I don't know what that has to do with the Eagan game.
As far as the losses go for the end of the year ... time will tell!
