What happened at this game? Kind of a surprise score.

Denfeld pretty much controlled the first period, but Virginia's goalie kept them in it. They outshot Virginia 16-5 in the first period.

Virginia killed off almost 7 minutes straight of penalty time, including a major, to start the second period. After that Virginia just took over.

Denfeld had 17 minutes of powerplay time in this game and failed to score a goal, including a couple brief two-man advantages and some 4-on-3 time. Their powerplay is now 1/19 (5.3%) on the season and a few of those were majors. Definitely an area that needs attention - they didn't generate many, if any, quality chances at all in this game.

Denfeld was fortunate that this didn't get to 6-0 as Virginia hit a crossbar on a shorthanded breakaway and missed a wide open net on what should've been a gimme wrap around in the 3rd period.

Virginia, while not necessarily the more skilled team, was definitely the quicker, stronger, and more determined team in this game. Virginia got better goaltending and played better on the PP and PK.

Even as early in the season as this is, this win may have earned Virginia a home quarterfinal playoff game and cost Denfeld the same.

Murray has won games by himself before, kid can get hot. Seems like Denfeld's most talented players are still pretty young, so Denfeld will need them to grow up fast if the Hunters want to have a chance in 7A.

Murray makes Virginia a threat in 7A this year, on any given day he can steal one.
