Bummer not to see Machine in this mix. Mission and Honeybaked were neck and neck for 1st place nationally @ Tier 1 AAA over the winter in the 00s. (And yes, they're pretty much the same teams as in the winter with maybe one or two different players). Selects will probably sweep all the elite divisions this year with Orange 00s playing in Detroit Elite Prospects instead.Towelie wrote:2000 Teams

Just an FYI, the Honeybaked team that played in this tourney was without 5 of it's regular skaters. Not saying that is an excuse or anything just that it was not their winter team in whole. One of the 2000 Honeybaked coaches I spoke to over the weekend said the Bauer Selects team that won the 2000 bracket in this tourney was the best team they've ever seen or played this year at that age level.... he also said the second best team they played or saw this year was the Edina team they played during the winter season (considering they have played and watched the Mission & Toronto teams etc...that is high praise IMHO) but he also said that since Edina was not all 2000 kids on that team it was difficult to compare it totally apples to apples but was still highly impressed and complimentary. Because on a similar note after two games of the tournament the folks at AHAI (Illinois USA Hockey affiliate governing body) called the tourney director and FORCED them to change to a BLUE PUCK for the remainder of the tournament at the 2005 level, they had been using black pucks and some parent (of arguably the worst team in the field) dropped a dime to AHAI and because apparently there is some mandate somewhere in AHAI or NIHL or something and the Shuffle registered as a USA Hockey event they were forced to use it the remainder of the tourney. It was just absolutley pathetic what happened when they made that change. It was like trying to play hockey with a super ball and the kids most hurt by it were the most skilled kids. Besides bouncing all over like a super ball the stupid puck would constantly stick to the ice, it was an absolute travesty to watch how frustrated these kids got trying to use that pathetic blue puck, games were no longer decided by skill but rather dumb luck of which way the super ball would bouce or when it would stick to the ice....etc... etc.... Shuffle directors need to pull their heads out of their rears and self insure this event so they don't have to adhere to that type of insanity during an ELITE Spring AAA hockey event... I can't even explain how painful it was to watch and frankly all of the coaches were pissed. I actually thought the Miracle Gold coach was going to pull his team out fo the tourney for about half a second he was so mad about it, not saying he would have but he looked ticked and it was really really bad.
