Youth Hockey Hub Squirtacular

I see Youth Hockey Hub is hosting a squirt tourney on March 12-17 in Bloomington. I have heard this is not a Minnesota Hockey sanctioned event, therefore, it would be an illegal tournament for any team to play in that is representing their Minnesota Hockey registered team/association. Seems that would put a huge wrinkle in this tournament based on the invite system.

People hear a lot of things. I heard $900 for a one-game guarantee in one of the tournaments in our state.

Ok, let me re-phrase: This is not a Minnesota Hockey sanctioned event.

It don't matter. Season is over by then. [ If in fact there is such an event]

Wrong. Minnesota Hockey's season does not end until March 17 at the close of the youth state hockey tournaments.

Makes no difference whether there is a squirt state tourney or not as MN Hockey season is not over until then and no team at any level can participate in a non MN Hockey event during the season.

It might be old, but there are still teams getting invites to this event.

Probably a loop hole in the rule book that they could get around . . . . . if it was a sanctioned event.

Yes, old news reporting that MN Hockey had agreed to sanction the event. As of yesterday, it was not sanctioned.

Why do you care that this event is happening? Did your sons team not get an invite?

Don't have a squirt. What I care about is a whole lot of teams paying a entry fee and then getting them and their associations into trouble. I'm a fan of youth hockey and although I'm not a fan of all the rules, all of the time, they are what they are and the buyers need to be aware of them and what they might be getting in to.

I'm not against this tournament, I'm just well aware of the rules of Minnesota Hockey. If done on the up and up, it would be a great season ending event for the squirt level. I'm just saying, if it's still a go, and it sounds like there are still teams considering it, that it does not appear to be a sanctioned event.

Maybe YHH can put a end to all of this speculation and give us a update as to whether this tourney is a go and is it Minnesota Hockey sanctioned?

If you are "not against" this tournament then who cares whether its a go or not. Why can't you and MN Hockey for that matter just let it go? It's KIDS playing hockey!! Plain and simple!!

YHH has changed it's Squirtacular to an all star event.

Squirt aged boys and girls from all over Minnesota will participate.

It is no longer sanctioned by MNH.

Players and coaches are more than welcome to come on this site and announce if they are playing or not.

Dates, times and location are still the same.

If you have ever been to or seen the Velocity 3 v 3 non-sanctioned events in the fall, it will look like this. MNH teams will not be allowed to participate as MNH teams in this event. If you played A, you will be an A all star and if you played B, you will be a B all star.

It should be a great event and it is free to the public to attend.

I will not answer any more questions about this tournament on this forum.

Isn't life grand behind the iron curtain...?

Trap is the hall monitor type that you'd put the kick me sign on. I see he's now found his adult niche on the mnh board.
