Yes.

Everyone is welcome.

Not only welcome to attend, but also voice their opinions, ideas, criticism, or simply just come to buy me breakfast.

:D

Yes, just please come down and see.
We need more people involved, not to be president, district director or event to serve on a committee; but just watch and let us know we are being watched;
or sign up to serve somehow.

The more people, the more educated the people in how things work, the better.
And do not let anyone bully you in any way if you do show up.
If it happens, let me know and I will fix it.

Not that it would happen as almost everyone is a great guy, despite their shortcomings in runnng MH ( )

As far as I know, yes.

It is difficult to make changes at the state meeting unless it is on the agenda, but it can be done.

I'd probably be thrown into a soviet style prison camp the second I entered the door.

Elliott: How about revisiting the checking age and also the majors for boarding, hits to the head, etc.. I know these topics have been discussed to death but I really feel strongly about these topics. Checking should be instituted at the Squirt level since skaters are smaller and have less kinectic energy to apply to the other skaters. I could go on but you get the picture.

Concerning the major penalties, this truly needs to be revisited. Eveyrone agrees that what happened to Jack J was a tragedy. However the kneejerk reaction by Minnesota hockey was WAY overboard in my opinion. Highschool hockey has changed for the worse since the rule changes. Refs are so eratic in calling these types of penalties it is really a joke. Every night games are decided because these types of penalties are called. I have not seen ONE penalty that was malicious and truly deserved a 5 minute major plus or minus a game misconduct. I very much see the decline in Minnesota hockey due to these changes and I don't beleive players safety has been increased at all. Please help me remembering but out of the 63 or so people who suffered dramatic spinal injuries with the same degree as Jack, he was the only hockey player. I don't believe there were any quadraplegic type of in game hockey occurences the previous year, or the year before that or the year before that here in Minnesota. This is a very emotional subject and we certainly want our kids to be as safe as possible when playing..........

Just one opinion.........

I will put both on the district directors agenda.
I believe the penalty issue will be looked at this spring with possible changes for the spring, then summer meeting.

The checking thing is from USAH and will not be up for a change until summer 2014.

Elliott,

You are “in the know” on MN Hockey. As to the seeding question you were asked about on this thread, do you know what is the logic behind how Minnesota Hockey came up with the Pee Wee AA issue outlined below (and any buzz on whether it will change)?

As it stands now, after district playoffs, the fourth best team from D6 will have a much easier time making it to state compared to the team it just lost to, the third best team. The MN Hockey site notes that D6 #4 seed goes to the South Region, which region will be populated with two other #4 seeds and two #3 seeds. Can you say Korean Badminton? I am afraid that the teams in the D6 third-place game will fall all over themselves to lose that game. The same thing could happen is District 8 (and 10, to a lesser extent). Imagine the losers of these games mobbing their goalie after the games!

I realize that certain districts don't have enough teams to fill allotted slots. But to have D6, 8, and 10 all send their 4th best teams to the South is silly. Had the other districts originally assigned to the South had enough teams, they would have sent their first / second / third teams. Minnesota Hockey should have sent the second or third team from D 6, 8 and 10 to the South to better balance the regions and to guard against "throwing" games. The teams originally assigned to the South should have no complaints, as they will be playing teams 2-3 from another district, just as they would have had D4 and D9 had enough teams. Conversely, Minnesota Hockey should let the winner of the district with extra spots (2, 6, 8 and 10) choose whether it wants to stay or take the "extra" spot in the South. If the winner says "no," go to the second team, then third, etc. Only if no other team wants to go to the South should the fourth-place team go.

Goal Judge,

They shuffle which Districts make up each Region each year. Some years an easier path than others. I hear what you're saying, and hopefully no one throws a playoff game, but I don't see that changing. That D6 playoff is a grind and often there's a surprise or two in the District playoffs so as of today nobody knows who ends up where.

"Just win baby."

I spoke to Brad Hewitt today (D6) and let's just say he is not confident it will be modified at all this year. It only took 10 seconds on the phone with him to get him into a lather on this topic.

The District meetings around the metro on Monday will be very interesting to say the least. I'm sorry but "that's the way it is.." will probably not be a sufficient response and the DDs begrudgingly know it.

I have hawked this topic to death with the DD in 6, 8 (Rak), and 10 (Thimm) and none are happy, but none feel super confident anything will or can be done at this point.

Sidebar: Korean Badminton the best and funniest analogy that comes to mind...thanks for the laugh.

AA A is on the DD agenda.
But that specific topic is not.

I doubt there will be any change.
But alot stranger things have ahppened at these meetings.
