Four years ago Breck beat East 4-2 in the first round of the Silver Division.
Two years ago East beat Breck 5-2 in the second round of the Gold Division.

East is the first AA team Breck plays this season and Breck is the first A team East plays this year.
Both teams are very talented and should show up for a good game.

What's going on with Lindstrom from Breck? If the Hub is to be believed, he hasn't played since the beginning of the season.

At any rate, East should win, though I wouldn't hand this one to them on a platter quite yet. They need to avoid the penalty trouble they got into last week and score some goals.

Another thing to look for is how well they start the game. Aside from maybe the Cambridge game (and even that wasn't great), they have not been good at starting games at all this year.
Anoka: gave up a goal in the first few minutes before turning it on
Wayzata: gave up a goal in the first few minutes; never managed to equalize
Cloquet: got an early goal, but looked sluggish for the first half of the game; didn't explode until Cloquet had scored midway through the 2nd
Centennial: never really got going, and were quickly in a big hole
Andover: down 2-0 in the first five minutes, though they turned it around

They'll have to fix that if they want to do anything of note in this tournament.

Has Breck really been off the ice (without a game) for 2 weeks? Seems a little extreme and makes this look even more like a winnable game for East. It might be the only winnable game in this Tournament for them, so I expect Coach Randolph to leave it all on the ice.

East 4, Breck 1

So what do people think these teams do when they don't have games? Just sit and study, or what? Not having a game doesn't mean a team suddenly gets worse 8)

Breck wins 2-0. Breck Goalie stops about 30. What is happening with Duluth East....? Another game where they had the shots, but they could not finish

Yea, congrats to Breck on the big upset!...But, by the way the guy was announcing I thought I was listen to a chess game at a old folks home.

If only shots on goal decided who won games...

At this point, the formula for beating East has become easy to follow. Stay out of the box, grab an early goal if you can, and otherwise just pack it in and watch as the Hounds pass it around a lot as they struggle to generate quality chances, and misfire on the few that they do get. Watch as your goalie's confidence increases, then spring a few breakaways when the East defensemen pinch in too far. That's how Breck got both of theirs tonight.

It's very, very frustrating hockey to watch, and the Hounds will deserve to get whacked in the various polls for their inability to finish. But at the same time, if they could just figure out how to get a &*#@$ goal early on in the game, you get the feeling the results could be very different.

I'm curious to see what they do against a team that is more skilled than them, which they'll finally get tomorrow, one way or the other.

Breck played a smart game and deserved the win, but they'll need a lot more than this in their next two games.

Yeah, I agree..the announcer doesn't show much emotion but at least he knows all the guys names..DE didn't look very good and Breck was able to put a strong fore check on them. Curious to see how Breck does in the next game..

Maybe this is why Randolph won't play Marshall? Just kidding!!!! but as he was quoted after the game "we've come down to lot's of these things and laid an egg". Including several in March!
