Kevin Gorg just reported during the Gopher game that St. Thomas is moving to AA next year, Is this true?, and what section will they be in?

Heard it as well, exciting if true. Gorg made it sound like it was a done deal.

Our good Catholic prayers have been answered!!

My guess is 3AA, put them in with CDH, Eagan.

Let the hate commence.

I heard it too but seems a weird time for it to come out given it seemed like they were so against it. Good for them if true.

Yes it's true. Either 3AA or 2AA is my guess. Wonder if they'll put a cities team in 1AA to make 1AA a little more competitive now.

Would be the perfect section to place them in, add another team to compete with Eagan and CDH. I could see STA making frequent state trips in 3AA.

If this is true then the complaining can finally stop....slow down....

Gorg posted it on twitter about 5 hours ago too apparently.

Maybe Hastings gets bumped to 1AA?

Posted it as a "rumor".

We'll see.

Any idea where Gorg got the info from? It's likely true if he is posting it, but it seems odd for him to be the one to reveal it.

The MSHSL and their invinate wisdom will probably put them in 4AA.

Multiple people on twitter have said this is true citing BSM's success as a deciding factor.

I think this could really change things up as far as sections go, as a realignment was due next year anyways. Only problem I have with them announcing it now, is how does this look if they DON'T win the class A championship?

Once this is officially confirmed I have a hunch that several coaches from "up north" (especially one in particular, close to Duluth) will be dancing in the streets!

Well since they have beaten up on Class A teams for most of the past decade, I don't think this year really matters on how it looks if they don't win the championship.

Respect!
We can now put them in the CLASS that they should be in and people will no longer down-grade them.
BSM should not have been a factor. Look at all the others like HM, AHA and HF. Maybe now we will see Lourdes and the rest step up and play where they should.

Oh I am guessing 3 or 4AA, but not 2AA....

Okay, then....

EP and HF to 2AA
PL and Bville to 1AA
Farmington and STA to 3AA
backfill counterclockwise around 694 to make the numbers work.

Strengthens 1AA and 3AA, and cuts down on the whining from tonka about strength of 6AA

Put them in 6AA; call it purgatory for sins of past years.

I don't think it's just Tonka fans that are whining. I'm pretty sure everyone in the state agrees 6AA is by and far the most competitive year in and year out (for the past 10 or so years). A change would be good for everyone.

This is excellent news however delayed. "Give Eagan a battle"? Until two years ago Eagan wasn't even a factor in section three. They are not a reloading Hill Murray with new metro star transfers every year. Cretin was doninatating for a few years, Hastings had their glory years, as well as Woodbury. My guess is that St Thomas will have a fight on their hands from most of the bigger schools that make up 3AA.

Better late than never, STA. Hopefully this will motivate Breck, T-G, Lourdes, Marshall, SCC, and Blake to do the same. Every private school from a big city that opts up just makes the others that stay behind look that much worse.

Well since St. thomas was not put in AA a couple years ago why would we bring up that eagan was a non-factor back in the day? I know they weren't that great back then but right now in 3AA they are clearly the #1 team and in the future i don't see teams like Woodbury where half there kids in the youth program go to different schools and Hastings who have been down for awhile being able to compete with them game in and game out. Eagan is a big city with lots of kids that play hockey, they will be competitive till that decreases and having St. Thomas in the section makes it a lot tougher road to state so then i don't have to hear on all the polls about Eagan VS. (fill in team here) and how they will be rolling into state, now there fans might be a little more cautious before making that statement in december

To say Eagan "wasn't even a factor in Section Three" up until two years ago is a bit unkind (lost in Section Final 3 years ago, first trip to Tourney was in 2006) but I'll agree with the basic argument. Eagan vs. STA could be an private/public school neighbor rivalry on the scale of HM/WBL.

So as long as you're here, SECBLUES, I'm looking for suggestions on section realignments (once I'm made "Competitive Section Assignment Czar"). If STA and Farmington moves/joins 3AA, I'd need to move 1 or 2 teams from 3AA to 4AA, and 1 or 2 more teams from 4 to 5. Woodbury and East Ridge to 4AA meets the MSHSL geographic requirements...MV to 5AA?
