Kevin Gorg just reported during the Gopher game that St. Thomas is moving to AA next year, Is this true?, and what section will they be in?

Yes it's true. Either 3AA or 2AA is my guess. Wonder if they'll put a cities team in 1AA to make 1AA a little more competitive now.inthetwine wrote:Kevin Gorg just reported during the Gopher game that St. Thomas is moving to AA next year, Is this true?, and what section will they be in?
Would be the perfect section to place them in, add another team to compete with Eagan and CDH. I could see STA making frequent state trips in 3AA.thestickler07 wrote:Heard it as well, exciting if true. Gorg made it sound like it was a done deal.
Our good Catholic prayers have been answered!!
My guess is 3AA, put them in with CDH, Eagan.
Let the hate commence.
Posted it as a "rumor".thestickler07 wrote:Gorg posted it on twitter about 5 hours ago too apparently.

Maybe Hastings gets bumped to 1AA?

The MSHSL and their invinate wisdom will probably put them in 4AA.green4 wrote:I hope this is true and i would love to see them in 3AA so someone can give Eagan a battle in that section
Well since they have beaten up on Class A teams for most of the past decade, I don't think this year really matters on how it looks if they don't win the championship.Metrohockeyfan wrote:I think this could really change things up as far as sections go, as a realignment was due next year anyways. Only problem I have with them announcing it now, is how does this look if they DON'T win the class A championship?
Okay, then....Zamman wrote:Respect!
Oh I am guessing 3 or 4AA, but not 2AA....
I don't think it's just Tonka fans that are whining. I'm pretty sure everyone in the state agrees 6AA is by and far the most competitive year in and year out (for the past 10 or so years). A change would be good for everyone.almostashappy wrote: Strengthens 1AA and 3AA, and cuts down on the whining from tonka about strength of 6AA
This is excellent news however delayed. "Give Eagan a battle"? Until two years ago Eagan wasn't even a factor in section three. They are not a reloading Hill Murray with new metro star transfers every year. Cretin was doninatating for a few years, Hastings had their glory years, as well as Woodbury. My guess is that St Thomas will have a fight on their hands from most of the bigger schools that make up 3AA.green4 wrote:I hope this is true and i would love to see them in 3AA so someone can give Eagan a battle in that section
That's funny!GoldenBear wrote:Put them in 6AA; call it purgatory for sins of past years.
Well since St. thomas was not put in AA a couple years ago why would we bring up that eagan was a non-factor back in the day? I know they weren't that great back then but right now in 3AA they are clearly the #1 team and in the future i don't see teams like Woodbury where half there kids in the youth program go to different schools and Hastings who have been down for awhile being able to compete with them game in and game out. Eagan is a big city with lots of kids that play hockey, they will be competitive till that decreases and having St. Thomas in the section makes it a lot tougher road to state so then i don't have to hear on all the polls about Eagan VS. (fill in team here) and how they will be rolling into state, now there fans might be a little more cautious before making that statement in decemberSECBLUES wrote:This is excellent news however delayed. To say Eagan "wasn't even a factor in Section Three" up until two years ago is a bit unkind (lost in Section Final 3 years ago, first trip to Tourney was in 2006) but I'll agree with the basic argument. Eagan vs. STA could be an private/public school neighbor rivalry on the scale of HM/WBL.SECBLUES wrote:This is excellent news however delayed. "Give Eagan a battle"?
