Grand Rapid at Forest Lake

Both teams dominated in opening night victories. Rapids was without Jake and Jonah Bischoff as well as elite league defensemen David Horsmann. Hunter Shepard lived up to the hype as an elite goalie with a shutout. Grand Rapids will go into Forest Lake with revenge on their minds. The Rangers lost their two best forwards to graduation and are unranked but might be better than most people anticipate.
I got Rapids 3-0 in this one. Peterson-Holum-Mann are too much for FL to handle upfront and Hunter gets another shutout. If Jake Bischoff plays make it 5-0.

A co-workers son plays in the STMA assoc. he said FL had one line that scored their goals and controlled the play. he said defensively they had troubles, not great with the puck and they were out of position to many times. a faster skating club like Grand Rapids could expose that. Also heard FL #1 goalie last year that beat them in section game went to play JR's? I think Rapids 5 - 2.

4 goals scored by Parker line. Goaltender played 1/2 the games last year as soph. Other kid would have been the 2nd tender, OG is going to "lawyer up" to get that extra year of eligibility back.

Forest Lake had a little trouble moving thepuck in the D zone. I think that they better on Friday. The goalie that played against GR last year in sections got kicked off the team for a drug problem amd is now playing for the Maple Grove Energy. I think this game will be a goaltending battle. It will be a close game like it was in the section game

Is there an injury situation with Jake Bischoff? I believe he only played one early game with Omaha this fall and now missing Tuesday's game.

According to grhshockey.com preview it isn't known yet if Jake Bischoff or David Horsmann will play. I didn't see any word on Jonah Bischoff either. I was surprised at how consistent their pressure was on Bemidji with those 3 out and a lot of first time varsity players in. Hunter Shepard didn't see a lot of shots, but made a couple outstanding saves on point blank opportunities to get the shutout.

Great game, the intensity was great. Forest Lake controlled the play for about half the game. Garcia and Shepard had a great battle, but Garcia comes away with the 27 save shut out. Big section win for Forest Lake

Looks like 7aa will be deeper than we thought. Nice win for FL. GR needs the Bischoff brothers back soon. Would be nice for Rapids to finally play FL with a fully healthy roster.

The youngest Bischoff should be playing Bantams with his buddies where he belongs.

Looks like Forest Lake will crack the top 20 from this game and how they performed in pre-season scrimmages.

Are you saying this because of his age or ability?

Anyone know about foreign exchange student Petter Sahlstrom from Sweden? He's number 18 on Rapids, played his first game last night. I saw his name on eliteprospects.com but couldn't find anything else.

Is this loss going to knock Rapids down to the 4th or 5th seed?

Or, maybe they just aren't as good as you thought. I believe this makes three 7AA teams (Cloquet, Andover, and your Rapids) that have already lost.

I see Andover lost again as well. It will be interesting to see how Karl ranks the teams from 7AA after this beginning.

Kind of a big deal for a team to be without a future Gopher and NHL draft pick and his younger brother that is a skilled 2nd line forward. Take Zerban and Jaremko away from Elk River and you think that isn't going to be a huge impact on them?

It's December 2nd. This game will mean nothing for Forest Lake if they don't remain consistent and pick up more key 7AA wins along the way. Plenty of season for Grand Rapids to make this blemish fade into the background. Especially if they get the Bischoffs back and start rattling of a bunch of big wins.

Forest Lake plays another section game next week against St.Francis, should start out 3-0 in 7aa. Then later in the season they have Cloquet and East

Teams like St. Francis and St. Michael Albertville are bottom 3 level teams in 7AA, so wins against them don't help, but a loss would hurt far worse than the win vs. GR would help. Those two are so irrelevant I would just say FL is 1-0 in 7AA after next week.
