Hey, I am new to the forum and i was just wondering if anybody has any Info on the upcoming Holy Angels team this year? I see some of you think they could be a underrated team this year. Did they get any transfers or any incoming bantam players? Looking forward to seeing some responses. Thanks

Holy Angels will definitely be better this year. New head coach Billy Hengen knows the game and knows how to teach. One key will be how well the Stars' player, Frankie Mork, performs. In short, expect more victories than last year and a steady climb back to relevance in the years ahead.

I am sure Zamman has some info to add to the topic.

The Stars should have a very strong year. They have some nice young players. They will have some sophs that played bantams as 9th graders, that should step in and play. They have a couple of goalies that will step in right away and help, which goaltending has been up in the air the past few years. They will score, but the question is how will the back line play? Mork is very solid but he can not be on the ice every shift, need some young players to step up and play solid D. The future is bright, Billy is a very good coach and will draw some talent to the school. The program has been effected by players choosing to go to the other strong privates around them, (Breck, STA, BSM and now HF), and a few transfers that have left the program in the past couple of years. They will be a very dangerous team by playoffs.

I too am interested in seeing what the Stars can pull together this year, maybe recapture a little former glory. One good year and they can easily crack state -- it just takes a win over Edina or Jefferson, right?

I think there might be a resurgence in the program as kids who may have chosen STA or Breck in the past decide they'd rather play w/ the big boys in AA, but may not be a lock at BSM.

STA and Breck have become so ridiculously dominant at A that I suspect families who want to get a serious look from college and junior scouts would rather take a shot at AA where the competition is so much steeper and deeper.

HF will be lots of fun to watch this year too, I think.

My 2 cents is not worth much in the pre-season state, but here goes.
STARS will be much improved, they have some better goaltending which will produce better opportunities for wins. There were a couple of players injured or playing on the JV last year because of the transfer rule that will help out and Billy Hengen gets to take the team as his. Trebil is still around but will not be on the bench.
Other than that I cannot say much since I do not get to see them. Last time I saw them on the ice was this summer.
More later...

The only transfers from last year that sat out were Zach Mains from Breck (Goalie) and Payton Voneschen from Edina (D) they also had Justin Cover transfer this year (F) from Jefferson

They also have Schmitz. Goalie that transferred in last year from Jefferson. He will be eligible this year as a senior.

Those names are not going to be difference makers for AHA. Decent for depth, but Hengen really needs to get some high-end 98's, 99's & 00's to get AHA back on footing with BSM, who has taken their mantle as the go-to private in the SW metro.

I had a buddy who had said they have to good looking players who are either 9th or 10th graders that played Bantams last year who could make this team a surprise. I do not have any names but was just curious if anybody has a clue on who they may be. Also the kid from Jefferson that plays wing has a chance to be alright i have been told.

Bianchi will be at 1st practice and every thing is going well and he should have no issues. He has been working hard to get into the best shape he can be and will play as much as he can with this injury all season, his point totals may be down this year but he will help and lead this team to a great season.

So i just want to say that i am sorry about my post that my buddy who is a ref said AHA had two solid young players. I to checked the facts and realized that they haven't even had tryouts yet let alone a scrimmage. Lol. My bad. He did confess that he was trying to get me going. What a dick. Anyways if anybody has any updates about the team feel free to post something. I see they don't start tryouts till the 12th. The news about Mario is awful but you really have to give the kid a ton of props for gutting it out and playing.

...Given the start play in the very weak Missota, they should do OK in the conference. They will be in the bottom half of the section and go out in the 1st round like the previous couple of years - IMO

Tell us what you mean - "given the start play"....

They will be much better than last year, wait and see.

Aha WILL win their conference and they will be at very worst the 5 seed in their section. They will most likely be paired with Jefferson and given that the depth is equal, goaltending and star power will go to aha. I see a section semis appearance this year

Missota will be a 3-team race with AHA the early favorites, Chanhassen looking to defend their title and a good Farmington team ready to step up. Final game of the year has AHA travelling to Chan for a potential confierence title and higher 2AA seed.

My pre-season 2AA rankings:

1) Edina
2) Burnsville
3) Jefferson - this will be surprise team in the state this year
4) Prior Lake
5) Chan
6) AHA
7) Kennedy
8) Shakopee
