How are the players that open enrolled able to play "A" this season at their new school?. The rules state that the highest level they can play at is "B" for a 12 month lookback period if you change schools.

Are they opened enrolled or did they move? I know some one open enrolling to Minnetonka. He was told by Minnetonka they will not take his son to be a PWA player this winter.
If the kid from Hopkins doesn't live in Minnetonka he will not be able to play PWA this winter. But it sounds like the B1 team will do very well.

Interesting that a kid moves from EP to Chaska.

I'm gonna come out and say it. I don't know who you are, or what your qualifications are. I do think however that you are looking for clicks. The way you get them is to create controversy. Your insight and propaganda are simply a way to get read. Your articles focus on nothing short of tabloid youth hockey. It's well within your rights to latch on to the gossip that is a part of our game. I'm just gonna come and say that I personally think it's all garbage. "My Minnesota Hockey guy" like you are Woodward or Bernstein getting info from Deepthroat. Who is your Minnesota Hockey guy? And by the way, shame on him/her for going down the road of the tabloids, if they even exist. I get that you are trying to drive traffic to your website. I hope others understand that the only way to do that is to create controversy. Congrats, you are the London Times of Minnesota youth hocky.

I know it is astonishing to about 80% of us on this site, but it is possible for families to have priorities other than where little Johnny, the stud squirt, plays PW hockey. It is possible that some families look at the reality and know that even for a stud squirt player, the odds of ever making the NHL, or the minors, or even DI college are vanishingly small. They could then be free to make choices of where the family lives, and goes to school, based on factors other than whether the local association fields a AA team or not. Maybe they choose based on the parents' commutes, maybe they want a smaller school than the mega-school that is EP, maybe the new place is closer to Grandma's, maybe an easier drive to the cabin on Green Lake.

Thanks TH for the candid comments. Your feedback is welcome, not ignored.

For the record, we try to avoid tabloid sensationalism. In fact we hate it. On the other hand when four players of this stature are moving associations, I'm sorry, it's news. And yes, our readership on that article was tremendous. But not disputed or objected to by any of the parties involved.

The goal of our site is to be a trusted source of information about the 9 levels that we cover (and then some). We hope to be informative, thought provoking and yes, entertaining.

As for my sources at MNH, you can visit the MNH Board page on their website to find their names and do what I do, call them. I call the Executive Director, District Directors, and VPs in charge of Publicity, Tournaments, etc depending on the topic. MNH officials don't call me, I call them. Over the past two years I have built a solid foundation with each of them.

MNH has less than five employees, our readers often times want information about MNH that they can't make public fast enough. We think it's our job to dig it up. We prefer to keep their names anonymous in order to keep a strong long term relationship with these volunteers.

We are making huge improvements to the site this year, I hope you enjoy them. As for who I am. Please PM your name and phone number and I'd be happy to have a conversation with you on the phone or in person.

Hope you are as excited for the Association season to begin as I am.

Why is it taboo to name kids on this forum (which I agree with) when talking all things hockey, but it's ok for TS to come on here and post his link to his website where he names kids. He might as well just do it on this site.

I would be curious to know if it's a violation of the families privacy for TS to be getting this information directly from MH. Doesn't MH owe them the respect not to disclose this information where they know it will be published in an online magazine? It is the "People" magazine of the Minnesota Youth Hockey world. Finally, TS with all due respect, you do not have as much knowledge about teams and players that you proclaim. Write your articles, but please stop attaching the site to your posts here if you are talking about kids instead of teams and abide by the unwritten rules we all try to live by on this board.

Nothing personal to anyone but if you don't like what you consider "tabloids" or you don't like "people magazine" don't click on the link. I believe the majority on this site enjoys his stories. So it's pretty simple "if you don't like it don't click on it"!

Edge, you missed the point of the post. I didn't say that people don't enjoy his articles. I didn't say he didn't write enjoyable articles.

My only point is it's a well known fact that YHH uses names. So with that knowledge don't click on the link if you don't like to hear hockey players names. Seems fairly simple.

For the record, MNH does not provide me with any names....for that matter MNH officials don't gossip. I call them for clarification on MNh policy (ie AA/A pilot)...that's it. They are great guys and have volunteered 100s of hours for MNH. Out of respect for them and the time they put in, I don't name them in anything I write.

We have a policy to name names only in a positive light. Our post of the 4 PW kids was given a lot of thought prior to post...these are 4 very well accomplished kids that will make an impact on a level that we cover closely.

Calling us a tabloid is one part compliment and one part comedy. First, thank you. Second, if you count the number of posts we've made the past year (300+), the number of "reports" versus "gossip" is 100 to 1.

As I've said, we want to make YHH into a full service niche publication for MN youth hockey fans. In almost all cases with a very positive twist. We hope you enjoy it. Thanks you guys for your readership.

Can anyone shed some light on the rumor that another highly rated EP kid is also moving

So has anyone been able to determine how the players that open enrolled but have not moved residences will be able to play A this coming season. Did MN Hockey change the rules this summer allowing this?
