12 year olds. Somehow I think they'll recover.

It's the parents I'm not so sure about...LOL

What are they looking for? Forwards, defense, goalies, or coaches?

Seen plenty parents wearing blades pullovers at the rink and kids wearing blades logo to schools.

Should see massive interest at tryouts.

3rd coach in 4 years maybe. Have to believe after this w/e there will now be a 4th in 5. The Edge score could have been worse.

It seems the rise of numerous other "elite" AAAs has skimmed some of the talent away to rinks closer to home. Used to be that people drove from all over the state to be a Blade - now they have Edge, Breakaway, Euro, etc.

Some years like the 01 Blades are more likely to stay together under a solid coach and core group of kids, especially if they are very successful (like say the 00 Machine, e.g.)

Seems like a higher rate of turnover at all of the elites than in the past, which is probably natural as more AAA programs come and go.

The 00 Blades are probably not helping the "brand" too much by showing themselves to be beatable -- not so much because the program has weakened but because other AAA have gotten just as strong. My $.02

And rumor has it a well regarded former blades coach (at a dif age level) taking over iceman program - will iceman return with a 00 team and further diversify things/kids.

Interesting choice to place this on a 2000 Blades thread. Are you hinting that there will be a new 2000 icemen team and that it will be the new home for several current blades players?

You seem to have more than just a passing interest/knowledge.

Not at all. Just a response to the other threads and a reason why the trend may continue.

If the Iceman restart an 00 team that would add to the "some of the talent away".

Fair enough. A 2000 team out of the northwest metro would certainly be closer to home for some.

Miracle Gold, Legacy, MN Icemen, and the new Velocity 2000 team. I would say that there are multiple options available.
But why change? Listen to the parents. Now read Tony Scott article about AAA transfers. One answer:

Ego. Parent's ego.

Speaking of NW Metro, it appears that the Euro teams enjoyed some success at the 00 and 02 levels at the Easton Cup.

Where are they all playing this year? 00 icemen not existing this season. Some went back to Blades?

'00 Blades are toast...they will never have another competitive team. There just isn't enough talent left in Minneapolis, to achieve the desired skill level. Too many other established, competitive teams to play for.

Only way it happens is to bring in either an iconic coach or an iconic player to build around for 2 years - neither of which exist.

Three Head coaches in four years, and now more probable personnel changes (with a new coaching staff coming in - conflicting reports on who that might be), will be the final nail.

Top Minnesota '00 AAA teams are:

Machine
Euro America
The Edge
Competitive Edge (if the current core of the '00 Blades end up there)

This team was too top heavy. Revolved around 2-3 players. Depth was sketchy, D was pedestrian. Coach seemed pretty pedestrian too. It'll be interesting to see if 27 & 17 stay.

If you're talking about the coach that is currently listed on the website, and coaches the Wayzata Bantam AA team, then I think your comment is pretty pedestrian.

I thought 28 looked great the times I've seen him...any idea if he is staying with the Blades. He would be a nice addition to any team.

He probably isn't talking about Wayzata AA coach as he just took the role on within the past few days after the last guy left.

Wow...why no love for 17?

I'm not terribly close to the situation...but I do know the
player - he is a great talent.

No association hockey last year. I would say he a good player...not a great talent. 27 and 28 are better.
