What are the biggest associations out there? What are the smallest? I have heard the biggest are over 1200 kids, is this possible? What would be the smallest, under 100? Just wondering if these numbers are correct and who are biggest, smallest? How do you have an association with less than 100?

You live in a small town where hockey is not big. You fight and scratch and hope that you don't lose a kid to injury or something so that you have enough kids for a team. Your kids play multiple sports rather than be those single sport kids like the big city kids are.

For someone so enlightened you say some pretty ignorant things. Our Association, Edina, has 1300+ kids. My kids play baseball, lacrosse, soccer, football, golf, snow and waterski etc. I have kids from mite to bantams so I know a lot of kids. I can't think of a single one that only plays hockey. I don't know any that play basketball though. :D

Every year MN Hockey publishes Mite/8U numbers to USA Hockey. I always have trouble finding the link on their menu. Here is the direct link below.

http://www.usahockey.com/uploadedFiles/ ... aFinal.pdf

For 2011-12:

Smallest: Owatonna 9

Largest: Edina 509

Quick scan through the data, my apologies if I missed someone larger or smaller.

So Edina has 1300 total minus 500 mites= 800 players in squirt peewee and bantam. Each A team has 15 skaters that means that approximately 5% of skaters Squirt and above get to play on an A team each year. Wow talk about tough sledding... and they say making it past HS is tough.

Edge, I believe the 800 is not just squirts, pee wees and bantams. You need to include Jr. gold, U16 on the boys side and U10, U12, U14 and U19 on the girls side.

Makes much more sense. 135 A spots, 800 skaters so that cranks it all the way up to 17% if my math is correct, still seems tough but I guess it's why they win every year at multiple levels. The only other association close I can see is Wayzata.

The guy makes a blanket generalization, denigrating "those" "big city kids" as single sport athletes. This is both ludicrous and if he really believes it, ignorant. I offer up evidence to refute this claim citing examples from my personal experience. Somehow that makes me a self-congratulatory "Super Dad" and a dick? Whatever. Or maybe it's just because I live in Edina. Wow, that's original.

And last time I checked 1306 falls under the category of 1300+, genius.

The actual number for last year was 1321:

393 Mite Boys
191 Squirts
156 Peewees
145 Bantams
84 U16/JG
160 6U/8U
192 10U/12U/14U/19U

You must be a lawyer. Still a dick and a supper dad.

Anyway I think it's great that your little Billy plays all those sports. No really only so many kids can be as lucky as your. You must be so proud of all the things that keep your family together.

Has nothing to do with where you live "Edina".
Just messing with you 1306 times. However if you ever need a really big kid let me know I'm yours. Here what I need.
1 new golf clubs
2 new car. Or a gas card to fill up my crap one
3 waterski won't do me any good without a boat. Maybe snow ski's
4 baseball glove and bat
5 new hockey skates
6 a job
7 big screen tv. " HD"
8 I love to play Xbox that would be good.
9 ?
10 I hate basketball but it would be nice just to have. Maybe singed by someone.

I'll just let your post speak for itself. You're officially an idiot. Now go have another beer.

Sincerely,

Really?
You can't figure out an association with under 100 kids??? Must be one of those who thinks that Delano is "out there, in farm country"....
Minnesota is a decent sized state, with land way up there..

Super dad, your right. I may be an idiot and I'm out of beer. That brings me to add another request in order for you to be my dad.

11- 24 pack of miller light. On ice, I like em cold.

You really shouldn't take what others write on a Fourm to hart.
