Thanks

Thanks
I haven't seen these yet either. MN Hockey website hasn't updated the Spring Festival brackets yet with the final scores.

It would be nice if they cranked up the Girls Hockey Hub like the boys did.

Funny, MN Hockey website removed the Spring Festival (Apr. 13-15) brackets without, to my knowledge, ever publishing the final scores/results.
I'm disappointed by the coverage of the program this year - at least the girls side - both on the MN Hockey website and MN Girls Hockey Hub (where they still have the 2011 Final 54 info posted!) as compared to last year. Last year it seemed very prominent on the Girls Hub with game scores updated frequently at the top of the Home page. This year, on the MN Hockey home page there is a link to the 16/17 Final 54 page but it's only for the boys (it brings you right to the Boys Hockey Hub page).
Perhaps there has been some turnover of people who handled this function last year?
In any event, I didn't attend last weekend. Does anyone out there have any idea how it went last weekend? Scores would be nice, but at least maybe which sections did well? better than expected? worse than expected?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide some info on this.

On the girls side a lot of time and commitment is asked of a very few people. If you go to these events you see the same people volunteering their time and energy year after year. First I would like to applaud those who graciously give of their time. Maybe it's because of the high turnover rate in the girls game, but it would be nice to see some new people step up and help out, maybe then some of these other tasks (updating websites) wouldn't fall by the way side.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't entirely sure if this was all dependent upon volunteer work, or if MN Hockey or the Star Tribune or Reebok (their name is all over the place with this program) actually funded some of this. Silly me for thinking the latter might have been a possibility. I applaud the volunteers for all of their hard work too. I would also hope in future years that others are able to step up so the same few people aren't trying to do everything.
Just to reiterate, if anyone can share last weekend's results on this forum that would be great.

HP 16's:
The ones I know of were Sec. 5 beat sec 8 3-2 ot. They then beat Sec. 2 8-5. Then lost to Sec. 6 3-2 with Sec. 6 scoring on 2 penalty shots in the Championship game. I believe Sec. 5 beat Sec. 4 in the 3rd place game by a goal.
HP 17's:
Sec. 5 and 6 again played for the Championship game. I don't know the outcome.

Sunday game.
Red 16's beat White 17's 5-4 on a pretty goal from Alexis Joyce to Katie Swanstrom on a 2 on 1 with about a minute left in game.

Actually Sec 4 beat Sec 2 in the 3rd place game.

Otter,
You are so right. That is what I meant. 2 instead of 5 (dyslexis) and wrong winner, sorry (my mind is not as sharp as is used to be).

Congratulations to the young ladies selected. I was quite impressed with the weekend. The picks had to be tough for the evaluators. In my little eyes, I didn't see one person really stand out above everyone else. I felt the talent was evenly spread throughout the entire group. Obviously, some girls might have seemed a little bit more flashy, but the others made up in other areas. It was nice to see for girls hockey.

And easy observation - top end HS teams win with top end talent. Minnetonka AA state champion - 3 players from the 16 and 17 rosters. Red Wing A runner up - 3 players from the 16 and 17 rosters. U of M - 5 players from the 17 roster are committed to the gophers. Counter to the previous post, IMO picking the top 20 players per age group in obvious.

Just think if Minnetonka had a forward or two on this list (in addition to their 3 D's). They actually might end up being a pretty good team.

The Minnetonka goalie (Rossum?) will probably make it to St. Cloud, they have another D who made it to the 54's. Very talented team.

"They actually might end up being a pretty good team."
Sarcasm?? They are an extremely good team. Probably something all teams could model themselves after.

The attempt was more at facetiousness, not intended to be sarcastic. Yes, Tonka has great defensemen, but also a great goalie (Rossman) and at least several very, very talented wings, too. Everyone will be gunning for them again next season.

Does anybody who posts on this site have a sense of humor? Every time somebody posts something even remotely humorous (or remotely negative for that matter) the "bad post" etc. comments come in. Sheesh.
