What about Machine players?

Didn't make it up there for it. How was it? When I watch better players of this age play with other kids around their level, it seems like nobody can stand out. Of course, our player pool isn't as deep in the Southeast.

Two kids from FL called back one skater, one tender. Good luck boys. Two kids from Boston , and one from NYC were there as well. Long way to go for a squirt try-out.

Some kids we know faced the Jr. Bruins "Brick" team this morning. Tied with a minute to go, they lost 4-3. If two kids flew from Boston to try out in Minnesota, safe to assume they tried out and didn't make the team out there.

A New York City area kid also probably didn't make their entrant. I get it if a kid from Florida (one on the Boston team) or Colorado (supposedly one playing for Manitoba and another for Chicago) heads to a tryout as an import. Not sure I understand taking a kid that already got cut by one team.

Those parents must really want their 10-year-old son to play in Edmonton.

Interesting couple of skates. Wonder how it will shape up in the end.

sheesh....tough schedule for the 02 Blades at the Stars and Stripes.
In a 4 team pool with the Bauer Selects, Jr Jets and Northern Wings.

Machine are in a pool with the South Sask selects, OC and Athletes Resource.

EuroAmerica is in with the BC Bears, Legacy and Jr Kings

Not sure how balanced those pools are! Oh well, you gotta beat them all to win!

If you were Blades organization, wouldn't you want to take your own players, win or lose, and give it a go to show strength of program??? Development??? Honestly.... Is it really better to win with ringers at the age of 10??

I also heard that the entire 02' Machine Orange team was at their practice on Saturday..... (No Confirmation, but from real strong source).

The use of out of state players sounds like a giant pain in the ass to organize and is stupid.

Did these out of state kids make the team or were they there to tryout and now waiting to see if they made it?

Tender from Boston was not there this weekend. He will be playing w/team in the Chi this weekend.

On average, What percentage of past Blades Brick teams have been made up of out of state players??

Hard time believing that people would travel accross country without believing (Or guaranteed) they had a very solid chance to make a "Squirt" tournament team.

This works out great for teams like the 02' Machine Orange. They get to play against Brick teams in Stars and Stripes and Subway (Great Competition!!) wihtout having to spend multi-thousands of dollars and 10 days in July in Canada.

Yes one could argue that Bernie has the real team Mn.

I'm not too biased one way or the other but this seems a little odd. If your kid is truly at the elite level I would think spending 10 days in Canada (especially in July) playing in the premier hockey tournament in the world for 10 yr olds would be one of those "always remember" opportunities. The kid can still play in the Stars and Stripes or Subway tournaments but none of those would likely stand out the way a Brick experience would.

I m sure it was great experience for all kids that have played in the brick, since the money doesnt come out of thier pockets.. (Except maybe the few who spent alot of time on the bench)

I m wondering if their parents had it to do over, would they spend that kind of money again for the brick experience?

Tender from Boston playing in Chicago. The Blades can't even put a kid from their own team in net for a normal scheduled tournament!!!! Come on....Are there more 9-10 year old 02' Blades sitting at home this coming weekend? Blades management and coaches should be embarassed...

Blade Parent Coaches and Blades Parents in general...NO issues with this????

Minnesota is allowed 3 imports per year.

I think some teams only get one or two imports but smaller market teams with smaller drawing areas get 3??!

OG85 How did the FL kids do?

Three tried out. [1 goalie] Goalie [who played squirt A], and one skater called back 2nd day. Skater is going to the Chi this weekend. He is a regular team member. Very good 02. Goalie's dad said they would find out by May1st.

Yeah, it's a bit ironic to say a "premier tournament in the world for 10 yr olds" but is it really that far off from a lot of the comments people make about kids anywhere from 8-15 yrs old on here?
