Unreal, Johnson was down 5-1 and had nothing going offensively when I left. Great win for Moose in possibly Johnson's last season.slacsap wrote:Hill's only excuse for not making state this year would be that they are not the typical powerhouse Hill team. They are the clear favorites in 4AA, but it is by no means a slam dunk that they will win it.
More than just those three...we also lost second-seeded Apple Valley and second-seeded New Prague. That's already 5 #2 seeds gone in the quarterfinals!GordonBombay99 wrote:Another 2nd seed going down, Alexandria, Eden Prairie and now White Bear Lake, this is not the year to be a 2nd seed. Hill Murray has no excuses if they dont make state this year!
Thanks, I knew I was forgetting a team or 2, and we almost lost Andover this year too, what a wild start to the playoffs!dueling21 wrote:More than just those three...we also lost second-seeded Apple Valley and second-seeded New Prague. Just because there were two, and this one had more responses.Tigers33 wrote:Why did the other post get locked up?? Cause there was two posts or cause someone was sensitve to the topice?? I see worse things on this board and topics get locked up pretty quickly at times...
Whew, and here I thought is was because of my comment.karl(east) wrote:Just because there were two, and this one had more responses.Tigers33 wrote:Why did the other post get locked up?? Nah, the WBL faithful is certainly free to vent (within reason, of course) after that one.isee wrote:Whew, and here I thought is was because of my comment.karl(east) wrote:Just because there were two, and this one had more responses.Tigers33 wrote:Why did the other post get locked up?? It won't make a difference. With his lack of effort, and the "slim pickings" that they will have next year, I see turmoil if he stays. Keep in mind he left to play with Woodbury his second year of bantams.sachishi4 wrote:I can't believe Coach of the Year Tim "Slim Pickings" Sager let this one get away.
Better hope Whalin stays...
Also a shout out to the Govie goalie. For an 8th grader, I thought he got better as the game went on.Pioneerprideguy wrote:Big Congrats to Moose and the rest of the Johnson Program. You went in as an 8th seed a few years ago and knocked off #1 seed Tartan. Then today, you spot the Bears a 4 goal lead with a handful of minutes left in the game & win it OT. That's coaching! Way to represent the eastside mentality and for the kids who never gave up. Couldn't happen to a better guy and to a person who has done so much for kids. You just added another chapter in many people's lives today. Good luck on Weds!

Apple Valley was another #2 seed losing right away.GordonBombay99 wrote:Another 2nd seed going down, Alexandria, Eden Prairie and now White Bear Lake, this is not the year to be a 2nd seed. Hill Murray has no excuses if they dont make state this year!
No way! He beat Hill who was ranked #1 in the State. He was named Coach of the Year last year. I say he has earned another 10-15 yrs!formerlybackofnet wrote:I have never been on the "down with Sager bandwagon", but after his performance today, he ha to go.
I dunno, 14 years of dominance is fine with mestpaul wrote:All of us old Eastsiders are happy this afternoon. Herb Brooks must be smiling from above. I know the days of the Johnson teams that had great section battles with Harding in the 60s-70s and HM in the 80s are gone forever. This one does resurrect Johnson hockey at least for one afternoon. Congrats to Coach Younghans and his team.
I'm sorry I took a pass on the games at Aldrich today. I will be there Wednesday and Friday at the Coliseum.
It's also a bonus for us HM folks. We get to have a crooked grin for WBL's demise following Tim Sager's stupid 'slick pickings' comments earlier this week. How are we going to get that streak back to 14 if we only play once a year?
