Continuing the tradition of past years we invite all forum readers to participate in this year’s "2012 State Tournament - Pick the Winners Challenge". There are no prizes other than the highest possible level of esteem being bestowed on those who are talented (or lucky?) enough to do well. Plus it’s a fun way of following the progress of both the Class A and AA tournaments as you root for your favorite teams.

Here are the five simple rules:

1. Class A predictions (all games) must be posted by Wednesday, February 22 at 11:00AM.
2. Class AA predictions (all games) must be posted by Thursday, February 23 at 11:00AM.
3. We will only post predicted game scores for the first days’ games in each class (quarterfinal games only). Predicting the WINNER of each quarterfinal game is worth 3 points. Any correct quarterfinal SCORE adds 2 bonus points.
4. Predicting the WINNER of the four semifinal games is worth 5 points (each).
5. Predicting the WINNER of the two championship games is worth 10 points (each).

We're now up to 13 participants, and so we need 7 more to match last year's total of 20. A year ago - using the same point scoring rules as we are here - hockey_rocker barely edged out KRACH (entered by ghshockeyfan) 64 to 63 to claim the Top Prize. To get to 64, hockey_rocker successfully picked the winners of each game, in both Class A and AA, however he or she received no bonus points for any correct scores. So with a little prognosticator talent - and a lot of luck - that 64 point total could conceivably be topped this year.

ghshockeyfan, I seem to recall that there was a way to predict odds and also game scores using KRACH point differentials? If so, feel free to vary the scores for each game using the KRACH formulas!

Not a bad idea - I could go back to the odds calculation to determine scores... Hmm... I think that was used last year and I'll give it a shot again...

Yes, it was used last year, and in fact KRACH picked up two bonus points when correctly predicting a 7-0 score in the Warroad/Alexandria game.
