Great choice, they will put on an excellent day. now for teams, I'm saying Grand Rapids vs the cake eaters out of Edina, and Roseau vs I suppose a citys team to keep fox sports interested, it would be great for another iron range team, but none of them are going to be any good

Nice to see Rapids get the nod. Just one question: Will it be a down year for them next season? Looks like they will have heavy graduation losses. Scheduling Edina, who looks like they will be terrific, may not be the best idea.

I think next year it will be the same group that went to the state championship as bantams. With Jake Bischoff, Reid Holum, Avery Peterson, and goalie Hunter Shepperd amongst the returners I think they'll be very good next season.

Prob not gonna be edina they only play them once a yr at edinas tourn and or at state. May see rapids vs roseau, moorhead, east, cloquet, or hibbing. Who knows tho its a mystery for now

Hockey Day is such a special event, it wouldn't surprise me to see Rapids have Edina twice on the schedule. If I could choose, I'd have Game 1 be Cloquet vs. Burnsville, then Game 2 Grand Rapids vs. Edina. Don't want to have any teams that have been on Hockey Day twice already like Roseau, East, or White Bear Lake. Want to keep programs that are AA and have lots of tradition and will be good next season.

I think a GR vs Burnsville would be great. Also would like to see them try something different in have teams that aren't in the spotlight play. How about a Greenway vs Windom?

I dont think Greenway and Windom would bring the ratings FSN is looking for

The location FSN was showing on their promos looked like it was on Pokegama Lake in front of Pokegama Golf Course. I like the site.
It may be tough to pull off logistically but the setting cannot be beat.
In the background viewers will see Drumbeater and Nesbitt islands.
I assume the new clubhouse will be the warming house/concessions/restrooms.
Are there any other sites under consideration?

I thought one of the images looked like it was in front of Zorbaz.

Probably be in front of Zorbaz - that area will have an easier time freezing. This is awesome since Pokegama is where our cabin sits!! :D

This should be at Zorbaz with out a dought.

Games should be rapids vs Roseau or Bemidji and Marshal vs Warroad or Trf

I think they try to have north vs. south matchups. That eliminates GR vs. Roseau,Moorhead, etc. Gr vs, any AA they don't typically play would br great.

Who did GR play in the bantam championship that season? Maybe a rematch would be nice to see?

Hill Murray could be a nice match up for Rapids. North vs South and public vs private could make it more interesting.

It was Woodbury, aka Hill-Murray.

Just have HM play instead of GR, and you can have an all private hockey day in Grand Rapids.

I would like to see a GR vs Edina matchup ( Pee Wee A state state championship rematch) for senior and junior class kids. Woodbury was their matchup in Bantam A state championship and wouldn't be the same being those kids all left to go to three different HS teams and maybe more. Also, it would be great to see Cloquet in the morning game vs one of their rematches from their senior/junior class pee wee A or Bantam A state tourny. The GR and Cloquet players know each other very well and it would make a fun time to have this event together. GR vs Edina alumni game on Friday night with all their ex-NHL and ex-D1 guys available would be a blast to watch.

I have golfed at Pokegama Golf Course and that model did look like the view from the clubhouse. Would be a great spot for a few rinks, although out in front of Zorbaz would make more sense for parking, vendors, etc. GR vs Eagan/Burnsville/Maple Grove and Cloquet/Brainerd vs Eagan/Burnsville/Maple Grove would be pretty solid matchups. I do love the traditional GR vs Edina matchup though..

I think they should make more of a weeklong or more event, at least as far as the rink goes. Do some youth games, maybe an adult tournament. Get most of the local teams involved.

Only other thing I would enjoy is actually getting back to the local hockey roots. Did they historically play hockey there? That is what took a lot out of it for me the last three
Years, too fake.

GR Newspaper article says its going to be in front of Pokegama Golf Course on Pokegama Lake. Great location. Organizers are talking about an "ice golf" event between games. Nine short holes on the lake with one club and a tennis ball. Sound like fun.

Move some games around next year. Start at like noon with the Gophers vs UMD, then at 2pm with a boys game. 4ish start the girls game, tape delay it like in the past, then have the Wild start at 4ish, play it live on tv, then have Rapids vs Edina at 6pm, play under the lights, both teams wear darks. HALLOWEEN MACHINE ORANGE vs EDINA GREEN. Thats my vote, a night game!
