are they that good, or just another good pairing on a bad team with a weak schedule?

its kind of frustrating to see praise like this when its 2 good players on one of the weakest schedules in the state.. Not saying these guys arent good, but c'mon........

It's like Anders Broman on lakeview christain academy, good player, would be average on a top end team

Haven't seen them play or ever heard of them. Would they be able to make a top end team? Didn't notice any of them in mid-term rankings. Are any of them comminted yet?

i dont feel it matters what team they play for. there are plenty of teams that play terrible teams but i dont see them putting up over 50 points in the first half of the season. you need to be good to get that amount of points in only 12 to 14 games. If you look on hockeyhub and check the depth of there team you wont find any. Its up to those 2 players i feel if they want a chance to win a game. so ya i feel there good. To answer your question neither one is commited. Tyler Cisar is to young to commit anywere anyway.

So they play 40+ minutes a game against poor competition? Come on.

Does it really matter? The Cisars will get a chance to prove themselves in juniors. I highly doubt either will get a scholarship offer while still in high school, but that doesn't mean they won't someday. I wish them both the best of luck.

DuluthMMA, I find it interesting that praise of young hockey players is frustrating to you. Why do you feel this way? Do you think the media should only report on teams that you feel are good enough with strong schedules. I guess you would like more coverage of Duluth East, Hermantown and Duluth Marshall then. As someone who grew up in Moose Lake and have witnessed stronger players leave for Duluth East, Duluth Marshall, Cloquet, and Elk River I commend these kids for staying. They easily could have left but stayed. Football may have been a big reason. They don't control who they play. But to answer your question Yes they are that good. Both could play on any team in the state.

They could play.. that's not the question. They would not be putting up the obscene numbers they are this year.

I thought this was the question. Of course their numbers would be less. Can't fault kids for scoring a lot of points against whoever they line up against though. Hope having their names on the top of the scoring charts will help them in finding junior teams. Kids from smaller non-powerhouse schools can fall through the cracks.

Fair enough, good account creation to back your boys.

I saw the younger one play on a duluth area selected team while back at the Heritage. Very talented with the puck! Clearly the best kid on the ice. Never knew who the Cisars were before that. I think most any HS team would be happy to have him/them and he/they would do very well. I thought maybe they would go to Marshall, but I have no idea. Marshall would be up another level or 2 with them. Just my opinion.

Probably not as high, but it's tough to say that when a good player has more tools and more people to feed them the puck what they will do.

Duluth4, had to rejoin under another name. Couldn't remember the password from my old account I started in 2002. That was under goalie91. Also nice account creation to you. Without the accounts we couldn't really have the forum. The Moose Lake Area Rebels play at Proctor on Tuesday night if you want to see the top two scorers in the State of Hockey in person. Pass the word!

Tuesday night I will be at the Heritage to watch my beloved Greyhounds take on the AV Eagles!

You're upset about a news story on a player winning a game for his team? Cisar was quite clearly the story of that game. Minnesota high school hockey isn't just about games between the top-10 teams in the state...and some people do enjoy reading about the "weak" teams.

1. Seriously, what teams do you think MOOSE LAKE AREA should be playing? It may be weak for a top team but this is MOOSE LAKE area.

2. I have seen them play and they are good; very good actually. They played in the spring league in duluth were some of the top kids on the ice. I did not know who they were and they stood out immediately.

3. I think it is great that a good player/players can get noticed even if they are from a small rural program. Maybe more kids will stay with their home program instead of going to a private or another school that recruits. I am happy they are getting some press and think they deserve it.

4. I know you are not going to but you should go see them at the Proctor game. I think you would be suprised. They are very skilled.

And, I'm sure the Hub followed the game as it was one of Moose Lake's only metro appearances. Good chance to check in on the State's two leading scorers.

Good points, these kids will be noticed. Compare with Nanne at Edina signed by gophers, lots of kids in the state better but not the name. A real head shaker. Grandpa Louie must hold some cards.

There's really no telling how good they are. the Hanowski kid from little falls was a similar case, but went on to St. Cloud State and is now the captain of that team this year. Joey Benik also similar, playing in Penctiton this year is one of their best players and is committed, but isn't in the USHL so you don't really know what you will get after high school with these situations.

No doubt here. I think the Don will be shaking his head about this one in 4-5 yrs.

It's the same argument every year, "These guys could never play for Edina or Eden Prairie or blah blah blah." The fact of the matter is most of these top AA teams have one great line and a good second line if they're lucky. Their is no doubt that a top "A" player would not only play regularly but have a significant impact for these teams. Look around at all the class "A" players thriving in the WCHA...

Brock Nelson (Warroad) 1st in scoring for UND
Jack Connolly (Marshall) 1st in scoring for UMD
Ben Hanowski (L Falls) 1st in scoring for SCSU
Jared Festler (L Falls) 3rd in scoring for SCSU
Nate Schmidt (SC Cathedral) 3rd in scoring for U of M as a defenseman

Also, Joey Benik who played AA, but naysayers argued his numbers were worthless because St. Francis didn't play anybody. He's 6th in the BCHL in scoring, two spots behind....wait for it....Mario Lucia.

I don't know why knuckleheads continue to dismiss great players at small schools. Maybe it's the only way to reconcile that they would'nt have been Junior Gold players if they didn't play AA. But the truth is bad players will be bad no matter where they play and vice versa.

How dare someone write about a player leading in scoring and points in the state that had to work hard in the off season to get to where he is at. We wouldn't want to encourage kids to work hard especially in the off season to get better. give me a break. just because they don't play for you hounds you have to hate on them.
With that said, the next story someone should write is why you have to develope an entire team, not just two players. Exhibit A- Moose Lake. Top two for points in state and still 8-10 record.

A lot of people also said Johnny Pohl was overrated and his stats meant nothing because of the strength of schedule Red Wing played. He certainly proved that wrong. In fact, people never gave any of the Pohl brothers any respect and last time I checked 3 of the 4 brothers played D-1 hockey.

If the Cisars can play, awesome! I hope they prove people wrong and when a kid can play, they can play, regardless of the school they play for or the schedule their school plays.
