UNO got a steal of a deal when they took the Brainerd High School kid.
I used to love to watch this fiery kid play for the Warriors. There were alot of teams who did not like to play us then because of his spirit. The kid has hockey in his blood.
A true freshman he is the smallest kid on the team at UNO but he is making a huge impact. Dean Blais can see talent and he has it with Archibald.
He is for real and will continue to be an impact player.
I am a huge Gopher fan, but............. got to say go UNO.

Red BaronĀ® WCHA
Rookie of the Week
Josh Archibald - Freshman, Forward
University of Nebraska Omaha
Right winger Josh Archibald, who produced back-to-back multiple-point games to help the University of Nebraska Omaha earn three of four points in a conference road series at Bemidji State last weekend, has been named the Red BaronĀ® WCHA Rookie of the Week for November 15.
A 5-10, 170-pound freshman from Brainerd, Minn., Archibald contributed two goals and two assists for four points to tie for the team lead in scoring in the series, earned a +5 plus/minus rating, and fired five shots on goal. Last Friday (Nov. 11), he scored UNO's first goal and then added an assist on the team's third goal in a 3-3 overtime tie against the host Beavers. The following night (Nov. 12), he notched an empty-net goal and assisted on another as the Mavericks gained a 5-1 win.
A draftee of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, Archibald has now scored points in four straight games and is tied for fourth in scoring overall among WCHA freshman with nine points (5g, 4a) in 12 games.
Also nominated: Matt Prapavessis, D, BSU; Daniel Doremus, F, DU.

Something even better, that I did not know is that the persons who were choosing the crew for the Junior team was made up of 4 NHL Scouts, who know what they are looking for. That is really awesome.

Very cool. First time for Josh to wear the USA jersey? A lot of these other players have a history making the USA teams so it can be a tough nut to crack. Rau, Bjugstad and Forbort too. Here's the roster,

Only makes sense if his top two choices were UNO and UND. Unless I'm mistaken I beleive his dad played for Blais at UND...

How old is his dad? How old is Blais?
I think his dad is the coach of Brainerd...right? If so, I would guess he is in his late 40's to early 50's.

No idea how old either is but Blais was an assistant to Gasparini in the early 80's when Jim Archibald played for UND.

Jim Archibald is in his early 50's. Coaches Brainerd. Played for Gino Gasparini at No Dak, I believe.
