Girl's Hockey Prep Schools

Interesting article on a trend that is occuring on the East Coast. Being able to get a world class college prep education combined with a collegiate level hockey development program seems to be taking hold. Collegiate scouts are recognizing that they'll find the best and the brightest in these programs. On the homefront, you have Shattuck and now Marshall. Will Minnesota see more of these types of programs develop considering the quality coming out of these schools? Minnesota obviously has the jump on the rest of the nation for numbers, but will an average 24 game/3.5 month schedule stay competitive?

Any kid from anywhere in the country that goes and visits any of these old East Coast Prep schools will be amazed at what life these kids live while attending.

Great video Jancz. As someone who lived in CT, I appreciate those types of programs- they are truly remarkable. The Marshall U14 team is making a visit to some of those schools this winter. They'll be visiting Choate, the Gunnery, Taft, Millbrook and Hotchkiss. They'll get paired up with some of their players and go to school for all or part of the day, then wrap it up with dinner and a game in the evening. What an experience. Cap that with a Yale visit and some museums, and you have a memory these girls will never forget. The only thing I didn't agree with in the video was the statement that said that the view from Deerfield Rock is second to none. Those girls have obviously never looked out upon Lake Superior from the School on the Hill.
