Where is that guy who loves GR? Haven't heard him on this board lately...must be eating some cake!
Anyways only one GRapids player on the list so far. Who else could we see showing up? Goligoski, Marinucci, Bischoff, Casey, Rohloff?
Who do you think will be the top three? Spehar, Pohl and Mayasich?
Looking forward to the hockey season & seeing the Bears @ Mariucci again!

Well with Gino Guyer and TJ Oshie ranked where they are I doubt you will see many rapids guys in the upcoming list. Good read and fun to follow but Gino Guyer should have been far higher then he was listed. One very dominant high school hockey player. By far the 2 best defense to come out Grand Rapids will not even be mentioned. That being Scott Klienendorst and Tony Kellin. Lets not forget Kris Miller out of Greenway. There are just too many great Minnesota hockey players to cram into one little list.

Mayasich will be there. My dark-horse money is on N. Broten to be in the top 2 or 3.
Aside from HS, probably the best player to ever come out of MN. Guy has done it ALL: HS state tourney, NCAA ship, Miracle gold, Stanley Cup. Who's achieved more???

Obviously that list is just for fun and not to be taken all that seriously, but you really have to wonder about the methodology if they placed Mark Osiecki above people like Trent Klatt, Mark Pavelich, and Craig Johnson. This is not meant as a slight on Osiecki, who achieved a great deal in his hockey career, but unless you're giving an inordinate amount of weight to state tourney success, which depends an awful lot on who your teammates are, I really don't see how that ranking is defensible.

[quote="Shinbone_News"] Mayasich will be there. My dark-horse money is on N. Broton to be in the top 2 or 3. [quote]
Aaron Broten ahead of Neal if this is the Minnesota Hockey Hub list you are talking about.
1. Mayasich
Possible Top 10 guys - Henry Boucha, Mike Antonovich, Corey Millen, Aaron Broten, Neal Broten, Scott Bloom, Dave Spehar, Phil Housley, John Matchefts, Willard Ikola
Just thinking out loud. I'll spend a little more time contemplating who will be in the Top 20.

Are you forgetting Bill Baker?

George Pelawa has to be top 5 or 10 I would think.

This list is fun to read and stuff but I don't take the rankings that seriously. Obviously there will always be controversy with a list like this but seeing how some people are ranked to others has shown that are flaws with the system. However, the top 10 would probably and hopefully be more clear cut.

Then how would you rank him compared to Kellin and Klienendorst, who you said were "by far the 2 best defense to come out Grand Rapids"?

He'll definitely be one of the Top 40, but I don't see him anywhere near that high given the criteria.

My guess: 1. Mayasich 2. N. Broten 3. Housley 4. Boucha 5. A. Broten

What I am confounded with, is when people talk about the 2 best players to come out of Roseau hockey, they mention Neal Broten and Don Ross.
Yet, there are players who will finish higher than Ross, and they definitely are good players, but the locals will always rate Neal Broten and Ross as #1 and #2

Sounds to me like StPaulHOckey is a little jealous that he isn't from a hockey town... In fact, I bet he isn't even from St. Paul. He is probably from Woodbury or something... Some place that has no tradition. Jon Casey should have been in the top 10. Regardless, I think you'll see 2-3 more GR guys on the list. Woodbury will have zero!
