What is EuroAmerican AAA Hockey?
EuroAmerican AAA hockey is dedicated to the competitive development of young players; offering high-end training and skill development that is challenging, fun and affordable. Teams play and practice during the off-season and are grouped by birth-year. Teams play at the upper (invitational) level.
What is the program’s focus?
EuroAmerican AAA hockey emphasizes skating and puck control skills through skilled coaching and repetition at an early age. Our competitive development process includes on-ice practice, dryland training, scrimmages and tournaments. We feel that this combination of techniques provides the best possible formula of success for our young athletes.
TRYOUTS-SELECTION PROCESS
When are tryouts?
Tryouts will be held Saturday, September 24 at the Maple Grove Ice Arena for the following age groups:
• 2003’s: 2:45 – 3:45 PM
• 2002’s: 5:15 – 6:15 PM
• 2001’s: 4:00 – 5:00 PM
• 2000’s: 6:30 – 7:30 PM
How are players selected?
Players will be selected to the team by invitation and/or through the tryout process. Players will be evaluated and selected by a combination of skill and attitude. The team may also select a few development/practice players. Development players will pay a discounted rate and have the opportunity to practice with the team (this is a great development tool). Development players do not participate in the tournaments.
When will we receive feedback about the tryouts?
The EuroAmerican staff will contact players’ parents via email within two weeks of the tryout to let you know the outcome of the evaluation. If you need to know sooner, please contact a member of the EuroAmerican coaching staff below. Possible outcomes include:
• A request for your child to be a member of EuroAmerican AAA hockey.
• A request for your child to be a member of EuroAmerican AAA hockey as a development player.
• A notification that we (EuroAmerican coaching staff) feel your child is not ready for this level of competition.
SEASON EXPECTATIONS
How long will the season last?
The first half of the season will start at the end of March and run through the end of May. The second half of the season will run from late July through the month of August. Actual dates will depend on ice availability.
Where and how often will practices be held?
Practices will be held at various arenas throughout the north metro, primarily in Maple Grove. Practices generally run 90-minutes in length. Some practices will also contain a dryland portion.
How many games and tournaments will be played?
We will participate in approximately 4 tournaments between the spring and fall. We will also work to set up scrimmages as well as some games.
My child participates in other sports and activities. Is that a problem?
Not at all. In fact, EuroAmerican AAA encourages and fully supports kids being involved in other activities. This is why we try to limit team practices to twice per week.
How much will the program cost?
We are attempting to keep the cost per player to $1,100 or less. Each team sets their own schedule and that will reflect actual costs. Costs are based on 17 tournament players and approximately 55+ hours of ice time between practice and tournaments. The final costs will be calculated based on the actual ice time and actual number of development players chosen.
Are uniforms provided?
Home and away jerseys will be provided, in addition to socks, practice jerseys and players jackets. The cost is included in your player fee.
