Elite tryouts are this weekend. One of the best guarded secrets is exactly how many "open" spots there actually are but here are the rosters along with the schedule for the weekend. Returning kids typically get their spots back without tryouts and this year they're suppose to be promoting kids from last years Elite Development league rosters (and they always give out some spots before tryouts). The end results will show how much they promote from their D league and how many spots were even available.

He played Elite League last year. All players who made it in previous years get automatic spots in future years. The list posted here is of players trying out for the remaining spots on Elite League teams.

Kolquist is staying for his Senior year. The only player that left was Grillo. Transferred to Denfeld for his Senior year. Wanted to play D.

North team looks great. Goalie selections interesting, with all the talk about the Duluth East goalies lately on the forum. Overall, looks like an excellent group of goalies.

That looks right and I have to say that that is actually pretty good. That means that a kid had a 1 in 4 chance of making a team from the tryouts...a much higher number than I would have expected based on some of the comments I've heard in the past.

It would also be interesting to hear how many moved up from their D league from last year. They say that they promote from those teams.

looking at these rosters, I understand why minnesota high school players are leaving in record numbers for the ushl and the na.

the elite league is great in theory but it requires a lot of work to sustain a top level of competition. It seems the higher ups at the elite league have thrown in the towel.

I'm sorry your son didn't make it. Tell him to keep training and not to give up. It's not over as long as he keeps working hard.

There are always opinions that some kids that made it shouldn't have, and some kids that didn't should have. I can think of a hand full of players (or more) that should have, although I don't pick them. If you follow MN HS Hockey, and look at the rosters, overall it is a strong group of players - and they should be proud to have been chosen. For the kids that didn't make it, it is not the end of the wolrd. Elite is intended to give kids an alternative vs going the Jr A route - everyone seems to have an opinion on what someone else should do. Sit back and let the kids play - and enjoy it as it is over quickly.

I think this is the first time FL has had two players. Franklyn start skating next week after broken ankle.
