If the Blades win 2 out of that 6 game schedule it will be an accomplishment. That is one rough schedule. One win is most likely from what I can tell.

I'll guess they go .500 through the first 6.

I have no idea what the other teams are bringing to the tournament, to prognosticate about wins. But I expect the Blades will be very competitive in this, if nothing else due to the prep work they've done leading up to the tournament.

Blades win the first game of the Tourney vs. Toronto Pro Hockey 5-3.

they play again later today. If they go 2 and 0 on the first day you never know what can happen from there.

Congrats on a game 1 win over Toronto Pro Hockey.

Not to be a downer but the Blades lost 6-1 to the California 01's in the first exhibition game of the tournament.

25 minute scrimmage, however that is a nice offensive explosion for the West All Stars. Did they work on the powerplay? That also is the only exhibition game for each team. Any Russians?

Nice comeback and tie for the Blades today against the Red Wings. Too bad they couldn't capitalize more on the power play. The Red Wings had 7 penalties (including 4 in the 3rd period) to the Blades 0.

Tough loss for the Blades. Shorty with 19 seconds left in the 3rd to win it for the Jr. Jets.

Pointstreak shows the Minnesota kids lost a bizarre game. Tied late, they went on the PP when Winnipeg took a penalty. They then gave up an empty-net goal with 19 seconds left to lose 3-2.

I guess they must have pulled for an extra attacker to get a 6-on-4 advantage figuring they could pull out the win.

Games are very competitive. Scores are close. Minnesota outshot Winnipeg 2:1 in this one but couldn't get enough past the netminder.

I love hockey lol. i am already excited thinking about next year! Next year we will be in tough but it is exciting none the less.

Why has Minnesota Team never won the Brick? IMHO it is the result of adults not being able to play nice in the sandbox together. I would be surprised to see a Minnesota team win the Brick without taking the very best 17 players the "state of hockey" has to offer. Until the factions at war (blades and machine) can come to a truce and bring a team up with the best players IMHO the Brick will not be won by a team from Minnesota. This is very sad as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for ten year old kids representing Minnesota hockey. I have no kids in either program and I am not pointing the finger in one direction or the other as all I have heard is all second or third hand information. I am confident I am not aware of all of the issues at hand, nor do I care. My point is as adults, I think it would be best representation of Minnesota hockey to send the best team up to this outstanding tournament with the very best chance of winning it. As stated, I don't have kids effected thus I know I can not make a difference, I do however challenge those that can make a difference to make it happen!!! I am confident most other, if not all teams that participate in this event are sending the best players available geographically. The talent level at this tournament is way to good to win without the very best. I am not saying a team from Minnesota would win every time, but certainly would be a better opportunity to win this event! In no way am I saying the kids that have had the opportunity to go to the Brick did not deserve it. They earned thier spot on the team and got to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity. Again please keep in mind we are talking about ten year old kids. No ten year old kid should not have the opportunity to play in this event as a result of decisions by adults.

Lamp, that is a great post. Unfortunately i think that Minnesota isn't alone with this problem. I know other teams in the Brick are faced with the same problem we are to a certain extent. Politics play a huge role in hockey, even when they are only 10! Talk to our friends up north, they fight the same battle we do! The problem is, is that one hockey program has the rights to the Brick team for the State or Province. That program uses their rights to the Brick as a tool to attract players to their program. If you don't play under their banner, it can be very very difficult to crack the lineup. Maybe the Brick organizers need to rethink how they grant rights to teams entering the tournament to ensure the highest percentage of top players of each region attending.

I dont think you need to pluck kids from this team or that team and try to put together an "all star" team of sorts for a minnesota team to compete at a high level at the Brick. The 2000 Machine a year ago went to Winnipeg and competed against the the top Brick teams, such as the Vipers and the team from Saskatchewan. Machine lost in the finals 2-1 to the Vipers depsite outplaying the Canucks, only to run into a terribly hot goalie. THis after beating the Vipers in pool play and beating Saskatchewan in the semifinals. Then this season, the team has won the Chi Town Shuffle, the Stars and Stripes and the Subway in Winnipeg. Along the way, the team has shut out the Bauer Selects, twice, beat the Vancouver Snipers (last year's Vipers) and beat the Brick Alumni team (last year's Alberta Brick team)...twice, and beat the Manitoba Lightning..twice. Almost everybody on this Board has an opinion of Mn Made and the Machine teams and that is fine. But what the 00 team has done is proof that you don't have to have the top 3 or 4 kids from 4 or 5 different programs to compete against the best that North America has to offer, and that includes the teams that compete at the Brick. Good luck to the Blades in Edmonton the rest of the way.

Except they bring in kids from Canada to fill roster spots over MN kids. I hope the Blades finish the tourney strong and I would love to see them bring home some hardware, but IMO they should be doing it with all MN kids.

Every MN kid that wanted to play in the Brick had the chance to tryout...including the Machine kids. I assume they picked the best that tried out!
