U14B was kind of a train wreck this year, but all concerns were washed away by a wave of enthusiasm emanating from Buffalo this weekend. I'm grateful to Buffalo, District 6 and Minnesota Youth Hockey for putting on a great tournament.
Eden Prairie Red finally got it done against Wayzata, winning 4-2 in a game that was a lot closer than the score indicates. Thanks to Wayzata for their consistently high level of play throughout the season. I don't know which was bigger for our girls, winning state or finally beating Wayzata.
Third place whent to Osseo/Maple Grove, defeating Minnetonka in a real barn burner, 2-1. I thought Minnetonka played a great tournament, out shooting their opponent in the games I saw. If just for a little luck things could have gone so very differently.
The consolation game went to Edina, 2-1 over Hopkins/Storm. Hopkins really stepped up giving Wayzata a tough game (3-4) in the first round and beating EP Black 5-2.
