I've been hearing rumors that John Hill may be out as coach for next season. Jamie Russell resigned yesterday and is being rumored to head to Minnesota. If these rumors are true, is this a good hire? Anything's better than Hill right?

Why doesn't anyone ever question Grant Potulny's appointment? Dude is an assistant at what should be one of the premeir college hockey programs in the nation, and he comes in with basically NO coaching experience.
Seriously, how does THAT work?

All coaches start out with "no experience".

Hill has been around for awhile. Three big issues working against him:

1) he's not a former defenseman
2) he's not from Minnesota
3) the defense was the weak link for Minny

Potulny on the other hand:

1) was a forward
2) played for Minny
3) the forwards weren't the main problem for the U. Yes, they did have issues, but not as many as the defensemen.

I hope the rumor you're hearing is true, especially the first part. Don't know anything about Jamie Russell but if he has the opportunity you can't blame him for wanting to get out of Dodge....errr I mean Houghton.

Absolutely. But not at a D1 program that truly should be a national powerhouse.
