Last night Hill Murray was the latest victim to go down. It could have been that schwan cup jinx. In other words... if you win the Schwan Cup, you do not win state. Is there a schwan cup jinx?
Schwan cup champ 2006: Holy Angels
State champ 2006-07: Roseau
Schwan cup champ 2007: Minnetonka
State champ 2007-08: Hill murray
Schwan cup champ 2008: Minnetonka
State champ 2008-09: Eden Prairie
Schawn cup champ 2009: Minnetonka
State champ 2009-10: Edina
Schwan cup champ 2010: Hill murray

You are correct Zamman. You could have used 2004 as an example also.

So, although the Schwan Cup is a fine tourney, it is not the Trophy that teams desire each year. I mean really, who cares who wins the Scwan Cup!

Trust me, a lot of people think winning the Schwans is very important. Some teams, AHA is one, that when the Schwans cup plays, they have only played like 3 games while others have played 5 -10 sometimes. I think getting out there and doing your best is more important that taking home a banner and trophy.

Some of those years I think need an asterisk. Like this season when Hill tied Edina in the semis. I know its happened in other years, and I understand that they cant play five overtimes, but it does go down in the record books as a tie.
I think it's best for a team to win in the first round, then win one of the next two.

I want to say that it was Moorhead. They ended up losing to AHA in the final that year.

WBL beat Moorhead 2-0.
The prior year, Centennial won both the Schwans and State. Its possible.
